Love my i7, I have the cheapest of the 3 but it's a quad core each with hyper-threading so it's really 8 processors. To me personally the 3.4Ghz and the 3.6Ghz are not cost effective since you will most likely never use all the processors capabilities. With mine I'm able to run Aion, Itunes/winamp, firefox, and another game with no problem. I run Xp with 4gigs of ram.Customer Review: i7 quick for the price

It's been 10 years since I built a computer. But this chip was quite easy to install. I used a Zalman 9700led cooler w/arctic silver 5 paste, and a p6t deluxe asus motherboard. At idle it is about 34-36 degrees. When all 4 cores are crunching away, it goes up to about 58-62 degrees celsius (no overclocking done yet) You will be quite happy choosing this processor.Customer Review: PERFECT 10

FOR 300 BUCKS OR LESS, NOTHING IN THE UNIVERSE BEAT THIS CPU, WELL EXCEPT 930 BUT BACK THEN WHEN I BOUGHT IT IT WAS PEERLESS. WITH GOOD COOLING AND A BIT OF LUCK YOU CAN OC THAT #$@#$ TO 4, TOO BAD MY ONLY STABLE AT 3.6...BARELY, SO YOUR MILLAGE MIGHT VARY.
THE ONLY BAD SIDE IS THAT YOU'VE TO GET X58 MOTHER BOARD AND DDR3

Good Core i7 900 series CPU to get, since this can be overclocked up to 4+ Ghz! The stock fan kind of sucks, gets 40 C idle and more than 70 C at 100% load, tested by Prime95 and RealTemp.
With a good cooler, you can overclock it up to its full potential, and save a lot of money while achieving more power than a $400 CPU.

This processor is great with L2 and L3 cache. I was working with Pentium 4 processor before this and i have seen a huge peformance difference. Im able to play avchd files and all blue ray movies without any issues. Its operating under 22c idle and 55c underload with Noctua cooler fan (no overclocking)
