Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Ideazon Merc Stealth Illuminated Gaming KeyboardCustomer Review: Good but takes getting used to Summary: 4 Stars
First things first, the keyboard is huge. It's wider than my Logitech G15 at its base, so make sure you have the real estate for it. But, despite it's size, it's still lacking a normal keypad, arrow block, and the normal insert/delete/home/end/page up/page down keys. Instead, they've morphed all 3 sections into one that is toggled by the numlock key, making it very difficult to get used to. It was honestly the first time in years that I found myself searching the keyboard to find what I was looking for.
But that was all negative, what makes this keyboard different? On the left side is a section thats perfect for fps gamers. All keys are in reach, no more stretching your hand halfway across the keyboard to use a special function during a match. The software comes with support for every major game on the market, and if your game isn't supported then you can map the keys yourself. Another positive is it's got 3 glow colors and 3 glow brightness variations, I changed it to match my blue glowing mouse. It's also got headphone/microphone jacks built into the keyboard which helped me out because my tower is beyond reach of my headphones.
So to summarize, if you're a gamer (why else would you buy it?) then it's got everything you're looking for. Just make sure you have enough space on your desk.
Customer Review: Not Bad at All Summary: 4 Stars
The Merc Stealth keyboard provides plenty of ways to customize you gaming experience. The most prominent feature is the backlit keys. You can cycle 3 separate colors (red, purple and blue) and adjust brightness settings. Being able to turn out the lights and keep gaming is a definite plus. Another great feature is the side of the keyboard dedicated to gaming. Having so many shortcut keys and ergonomic positioning will quickly spoil you.
The keys in the "gaming" area of the keyboard reference keys on other parts of the standard area of the keyboard, most of which have become a standard in PC games. i.e. the WASD movement keys layout. The overall feel of the keyboard is nice. The structure is very solid and the keys have a "leathery" texture to them and feel expensive. The USB plug is gold plated so you can tell some thought went into the overall quality of this keyboard. The only thing I would add to this setup is an detachable wrist rest.
Overall the Ideazon Merc Stealth is a nice keyboard. It may be on the pricey side but you get what you pay for!
Customer Review: KVM does not work Summary: 4 Stars
Just received this keyboard, setup was easy took a little time to install its drivers. Love the illuminated keys can't believe how something so simple would make typing so much more enjoyable. Read where some people did not like the spacing of the keys, I found no problem with the spacing and really like the response from the keys. The only issue that I have is that I run five PC's off of one monitor, keyboard and mouse using a KVM switch. The Merc Stealth Illuminated Gaming Keyboard will not work with the KVM switch that I use; this does not mean that it won't work with others?. I play COD2 online and found right out of the box my game skills doubled (not saying I'm good) just made me better. Other than the KVM issue, I think I have made a fantastic buy with this keyboard and would recommend any gamer to get one.
Customer Review: Irritating but nice. Summary: 4 Stars
There are parts of this keyboard that I love and parts that I just HATE. The WSAD keypad on the left is just wonderful but the software that runs it is a pain. If you forget to load the keypad asignment for the game you are playing you have to quit out of the game and change the settings and then reload the game. The number pad on the right is where I just hate this keyboard. The Insert, Delete, PgUP, PgDn and arrow keys are merged in with the number keys and it just drives me nuts having to switch back and forth while working. I'm always hitting delete and seeing a 4 typed onto the page or entering numbers and deleting stuff instead.
If you are using this keyboard exclusively for gaming then it's great. If you also use it for word processing and web surfing then look for something else.
Customer Review: Solid Gaming Keyboard Summary: 4 Stars
My wife bought this for me after trashing God knows how many conventional keyboards (the WASD keys, in particular). I've had it for a couple of months now and aside from longevity - which I can't yet speak to - I would have to say that it's a credible addition to my gaming arsenal. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but is a clear improvement from a conventional keyboard.
My only real "con" is using it as a normal keyboard, which isn't much fun. In order to make room for the extended gaming keypad, they crunched the rest of the keys together and it's just awkward for me. And, although I haven't measured, the keys feel like they might be closer together than a conventional keyboard.
In closing, if you're gaming more than doing actual work - this may be the keyboard for you.
