Customer Review: Fang and Mac

I am happy with the Fang and would buy it again. I gave the Fang (...) because it is an average product not an exceptional product. (The Wiimote, the Nintendo Wii controller, is an exceptional product.)
The Fang is a PC-only product out of the box. Mac people, without third party software, will find it mostly useless. I knew this when I purchased it to help me play the World of Warcraft (WoW). The Fang, when combined with ControllerMate by OrderedBytes (...), can be used quite well on a Mac.
The Fang hardware is about what you would expect from a game oriented keyboard - mushy keys and a sometimes intermittent contact when not pressed hard on some keys. I was motivated to buy it when my Apple Keyboard started to have keypress problems on the keys that have the most use when playing WoW. Since I was replacing the main keyboard with one that has a better "key-feel" and was more expensive, I wanted to move my WoW 'work' to something that was less expensive and better for gameplay. The Fang is both.

This game-pad is phenomenal for FPS games. It's always easy to find the butterfly shaped D-Pad and you don't get confused like I do sometimes with a regular keyboard or other game-pads where every key feels the same while your head is looking at the screen. Unlike other game-pads, this one is very left-handed friendly with a perfectly symmetrical design. It took an hour to get used to but after that, you'd never want to go back. The software for mapping keys is also as easy as you can get. Anyone who is an avid FPS gamer would be doing themselves a disservice to not get this. This pad was with me all the way through Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Stranglehold, Prey, Gears of War, and many many more.Customer Review: A Great Addition for Gamers

The Fang is a great accessory to any PC gamer's setup. I gave it a whirl and once I got past the initial breaking in period, where you have to train yourself to adjust to the different size movement keys, I was off and running. It is completely customizable and all the keys are assignable to whatever you prefer.
The large red keys are your main movement keys and the size increase really helped me move around better. The design is very intuitive and it hot plugs right into USB. It also has some adjustments for height and (along the top) controls for your media player too. All in all a great game controller!

I did some research while trying to decide between this unit, Nostromo, or Saitek. I am right-handed, so the ambidextrous aspect of the Ideazon wasn't a big deal. The Fang had several positive reviews on various gaming websites and magazines. I have an n50, and needed a few more buttons for some of the games I enjoy (Guild Wars, various FPS's, etc.). The Fang had more buttons than the others, and the reviews sounded like they had a nice feel and placement.
Following my purchase, it has been plug and play with WinXP. No issues after a month of usage, and I'm very happy with the performance.

I use this with my laptop with the geforce 7800, I was tired of my hands getting so warm on the keyboard and this was the perfect answer, playing HL-ep 1 was such a better experience with the fang:)
its a solid peripheral for any gamer looking for an alternative to standard W,A,S,D keyboard configurations. The variety of buttons allow players to get much more done without taking a hand away from the movement keys, and a smart arrangement of convex and concave surfaces prevent fingers from getting lost while reaching for a specific key.
