Customer Review: For the price, a good deal
Summary: 5 Stars

For maximum archival life of CDs, it is a good idea to keep them both in a jewel case, and an outer container as well. After doing a fairly extensive web search, I discovered that the selection of boxes to hold CDs, while contained within a jewel case, is actually rather limited. And many of these cases are in the $30-$60 range, and actually hold fewer CDs than these cases do.

On the downside, these cases are rather plain appearing and business-like. But I didn't want flaming pink, anyway. Also, their style does not lend them to being portable. For files that will be used daily, or something you want to carry around with you, it may be a good idea to get something more durable with a carrying handle, made of metal or heavy plastic.

These boxes are made out of coated cardboard, a fact that is clearly stated in the description. But they are quite sturdy, and if used only occasionally, should last for many years. But these cases could be damaged, if they were accidentally soaked with water, or kept in an extremely damp environment.

For archival storage with occasional access, this is the best deal I could find, especially considering the almost-nominal price. If you have a lot of CDs, that will fill several-to-many containers, and will only access them occasionally; these boxes are a good choice. I will probably buy some more, as I continue to generate CDs that will need to be stored.

Customer Review: Great box for CD storage
Summary: 5 Stars

I needed storage boxes for a couple hundred CDs in paper sleeves. My requirements were: inexpensive and sturdy with a cover, and these fit the bill. My experiences with these from Endless Variety were:

1. My boxes were delivered with unbelievable speed - shipped the same day I placed the order, and they arrived the next day.
2. Assembly is simple and quick - just open up the box and snap the 4 snaps on each end into those on the sides.
3. The box is very sturdy. The 5x5 inch sleeves fit perfectly with just enough room to flip through them. It fits 165 CDs in sleeves or even more.
4. As others reported, the top is about 3/8 inch too wide and therefore fits loosely. It would be nice to have it fit snugly, but that isn't necessary. I just want something to keep out the dust. Also, since the top, too, is sturdy, you can stack these boxes.
5. One reviewer reported a strong chemical smell. Mine are odorless.

For those using jewel cases, both the trim and full jewel cases fit into the box with no problem. However, both stick up about 5/8 inch above the sides as depicted in the picture on this page. Therefore, the box's cover will lay on the cases rather than on the box's sides.

I'm very happy with mine - a great product for the price. I will definitely order more if I need them.

Customer Review: Best storage sollution for your old CDs
Summary: 5 Stars

I was delighted by these boxes. They are not glamorous, but they are efficient. I would have settled for a simple cardboard box that was exactly the size of a CD (and long enough to hold a bunch), and this, while essentially a cardboard box, is very thoughtfully designed.

My reason for buying a bunch was to store CDs that I've now put on my computer, so I only need them for backup. I wanted the most compact manner possible to store them, and this is it. It also seems to be by far the cheapest.

Until you need one, it is folded flat. It easily assembles, and is sturdy and attractive (black, with metal corners and a lable holder). I threw out all of my jewel cases, and bought a lot of paper sleeves for the CDs, and can fit a large number of CDs and booklets (maybe 80? I didn't count) in each box. I guess you could also keep the jewel cases, but I am delighted to have the shelf space back instead.

I now also use one of them for computer backups and software disks. There's room in a single box for all of my backups, all of my software, all of the manuals, and a ham sandwich (although probably not the best place for the sandwich).

Customer Review: Just the solution for a specific need
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best solutions for an ongoing problem...what to do with all of those CDs that one collects over the years. I am very particular about how I store my disk collection. I have tried those silly stands that they slide into, and those are a nightmare. I have tried boxes meant for other things, and though they keep the disks out of the light (I suspect that strong light will kill disks over time) they did not fit right, and it is hard to get consistently sized boxes.

These products however, were designed only to store CDs in their jewel cases and nothing else. They are well made for the price and I have no complaints. The fiber used in their manufacture is acid free (for stability and preservation of their contents).

I have over four thousand disks in jewel cases, and these boxes are just what the doctor ordered. I have a set of shelves that the boxes fit perfectly on and will use this as my storage solution for my disks from now on. This product serves my inner librarian!

Buy these if you have a lot of CDs!

Customer Review: Amazon Customer Service
Summary: 5 Stars

Ordered 2 items...Ideastream CD Storage Boxes and Fellows CD Sleeves. which is obviously 2 different manufacturers. When ordering, I clicked on a combination option to order both. Needed 10 of each...the "10" only tranferred to 1 item, not both. Was not noticed until transaction completed and received a verification. Called customer service and found out there were two "customer Services" to deal with. Could not change the order even though it was less than 5 minutes when I first called. Customer Service is obviouly not in the US...had a communication problem and could not get a "supervisor" as no one was available for 2 hours. ended up paying for 2 freight charges because we had to place a 2nd order to get the quantity needed. Could not get any help...will look elsewhere before we place another order of that type.

Items were exactly what was needed. Amazon Customer Service was non-existant.
