Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Nintendo Wii Component Cable AV Cable for HDTV/EDTV High Definition 480p

Customer Review: excellent product for the price
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these simply because they were a third of the price of some others. I didnt hold high hopes for what they would do. I was wrong. hey work great and definitely do what they advertise. After switching resolution to 480p on my Wii I did notice a bit of a better picture. For what these things cost, I would have to give them a 5 of 5.

Customer Review: does the job, that's all i need!
Summary: 4 Stars

well, i always warn people before they buy the wii - "its not PS3"
and this is the same situation.
the Wii doesnt try to do HD - the focus is on the gameplay!
and as long as you remember that, you'll be very happy.

so dont expect this cable to turn your wii into a mean HD machine - but you should expect an improvement over the cable you got with your wii.
for the price? this is VERY recommended.
enjoy your wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

Customer Review: noticeable improvement for some games, less so for others. Overall worth buying.
Summary: 5 Stars

Unless you expect too much, this item is worth buying given that this non-brand cable is much less expensive than Nintendo brand's.

I have been using this for two weeks.
My TV is 32" Sharp Aquos HDTV.

My major reason to try 480p was that text in Madden NFL 2009 was so small on 32" HDTV that I sometimes needed to get close to TV (say, 4 feet. I usually sit 6 or 7 feet away from TV) , especially for the audible menu.
After switching to 480p, the text looks smoother and more legible than with 480i. More surprisingly, the football field seems more vivid and beautiful. Players are rendered clearer too. So definitely the difference between 480i and 480p is noticeable, if not greatly improved.

For other games, the improvement in picture quality is less obvious.

For example, there is not much difference between 480p/i in Power Pro 2008 (a cartoon-like MLB game).

For Tetris Party (a WiiWare), the background may be more detailed.

For Pac-man (a Virtual Console game) no difference is seen.

In short, I guess that the more realistic the game is, the more improvement in the picture quality you'll enjoy. It could be also said that if you have experience switching composite to component with your DVD player, you'll get a similar result.

In addition, I get a sense that sound quality is slightly better with 480p than 480i, so this is another benefit of this item.

Like I said before, don't expect too much even if the product calls itself "for HDTV." This is just 480p.

I believe I got what I should get from this product and I don't see any reason you would get more with Nintendo brand cable or other expensive ones. Save your money with this less expensive but fine cable.

Customer Review: Barely lasted a month.

We got this cable for the Wii and started using it on Christmas day. By the end of January the picture was cutting out and the colors were totally off. Terrible, cheap product. You get what you pay for.

Customer Review: Wii Component Cable
Summary: 2 Stars

This cable provides a much better picture than the composite cable, but there is one problem: Little squiggly lines appear on the screen as if there is some sort of noise interfering with the signal. They must not be shielded that well. Pretty much what I would expect for the price though...
