My 7-year-old son received this camera for Christmas, and he loves it. He takes it everywhere and he has had absolutely no problem with the software, instructions, etc. He wanted a digital camera, but we were not willing to spend a lot of money on one - given that we did not know if this was "just a phase" he was going through, or if he really would enjoy photography as a hobby. We also wanted the opportunity to train him on how to handle and take care of a camera before we made a more serious investment.
Admittedly, the quality of the pictures is not the same quality of our digital SLR - but for the price, we didn't expect it to be. We wanted a "starter camera" for our son to learn on - and that's what this is. He has loved it. He has also enjoyed playing with the software - making "adjustments" to the photos for fun. :0)
Given the choice, we would make the purchase again.

Reading the past reviews it occurred to me that people seem to expect top notch performance from a TOY camera. The camera functions very well, software installs without trouble in a snap, and is very easy to use. Only thing I have had to check from the owner's manual was how to delete pictures from the camera. Now that I know how, that is not a problem either.
The toy is fun for my kids because they love to take pictures, however, I am not willing to let them destroy my expensive cameras. This is a toy, but it is not a toddler toy. The age recommendation starts at age 5, which basically means that the children that age should be able to follow instructions given by adults to not throw the camera around, or start taking it apart. Adults are still required to teach their children how to use a camera properly, and this camera is excellent for the practise. Not too expensive, but works enough to give kids the satisfaction of taking their own pictures.
What comes to picture quality, it is ok for the price and the fact that this is toy. Of course this camera does not take as good pictures as a camera priced $500. Also, people might forget that this camera does not have a flashlight, nor does it have a nightvision option. This means that the camera takes ok pictures OUTDOORS IN DAYLIGHT, or in very well lit rooms indoors. Another complaint people might have is about the blurriness of some pictures. Many simple cameras do not focus on close objects (usually objects must be at least 2-3 feet away). To test this I took a few pictures of my kitten outdoors when he was about 2 feet away, and the pictures turned alright. However, when I took pictures in shorter distance (of the same kitten) they turned blurry. But I expected this. A toy is a toy and a real camera is a real camera. This camera is a toy, and functions very well for a toy.
Do not buy this toy camera if you want to get top quality pictures, but if you just want your kids to learn how to take pictures and how to handle a camera with care, this is a good toy to start practising and have some fun. I gave 3 stars for durability because I do not really expect this camera to last forever, or rather I expect to get about $20 worth of fun out of it.

I HAFTA SAY, ALL OF THESE REVIEWS ARE RIGHT ON! MY 7 YEAR OLD SON RECIEVED THIS CAMERA FOR CHRISTMAS LAST YEAR AND HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE PICTURES OUT OF THE CAMERA....WHEN WE ACTUALLY FIGURED IT OUT THE PICS (OF COURSE) WERE HORRID! HE WAS SOOO DISSAPPOINTED AND HASNT TOUCHED THE CAMERA (EXCEPT TO TAKE THE BATTERIES OUT FOR SOMETHING ELSE) SINCE CHRISTMAS DAY! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!
