Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Hoodman H-LPP3 HoodLoupe 3.0 Professional 3-Inch Screen Loupe

Customer Review: Wanted One For Years.
Summary: 5 Stars

I've wanted one of these for years. I always talked myself out of it because of the price. After not being able to see the screen in daylight for a couple shoots recently, I was frustrated and bought it. Incredible.

You can adjust it so you can see the image like it's on your large screen LCD, because it's magnified. You can focus it with or without glasses, and if you need glasses to see close, you can focus it so you don't need to wear your glasses. It's just amazing.

I also use it to see more detail on the back LCD even when I don't need it for light blocking. High quality and well worth the money. I carry it everywhere now.

Customer Review: Yes, Expensive, But Useful
Summary: 5 Stars

This both covers the LCD from bright light and magnifies - making it easy to check the details of your image in any light situation. The magnification is just strong enough that you can see the pixels of the LCD screen. But since it hoods the light coming onto the LCD, you don't have to worry about 'auto dimming' features as with the 5DMII misrepresenting your lighting.

As an onlocation shooter, I've found this to be indispensible. I haven't attached it to my MII for HD video but I am looking forward to being able to actually see where I am focusing in the future. I've found it impossible to use the LCD for video work on the MII.

Customer Review: Hoodman HoodLoupe-Outdoor Sports Photography
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely love this product. I never leave home without it around my neck. I am an amateur sports photographer - exclusively covering high school baseball. I used to carry my glasses with me and would have to put them on to look at my shots (in between innings) and take a look inside the dugout (shaded area) to see if I should keep OR throw out my shots. With the Hoodman around my neck I don't have to waste time going to a shaded area nor do I have to carry my glasses with me. The Hoodman adjusts to your eyesight - just like binoculars. It is two products in one - I don't leave home without it. Highly Recommended.

Customer Review: Hoodloupe
Summary: 5 Stars

I recently purchased a Canon 7D with a beautiful 3" viewing screen. In addition I purchased the hoodloupe and am impressed that even with the larger screen the Hoodloupe makes an impressive contribution to assuring I have good composition and focus. The adjustable eyepiece diopter makes the Hoodloupe adaptable to anyone's eyesight. At a recent photo shoot a number of photographers noticed my Hoodloupe and wanted to try it. They were all impressed by the improved detail they could get from their camera screens. The Hoodloupe's only drawback is it's price but it's the only one on the market.

Customer Review: How did I do without it ?
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a pro, but you don't need to be to find the Hoodman loupe very useful shooting outdoors.
I used to dash for some shade or get into a car to get a good view of an image on my lcd.
Now on outdoor shoots I keep it around my neck for a perfect view of the lcd in the brightest conditions.
Since it clips off the neck strap, art directors or others can get a quick view too.It comes with a very well made zipper pouch for storing away, fits nicely in one of my camera bags side pockets. What a relief knowing you won't miss any details of your images while in the field !
