i work with the military and sometimes im not able to get a land line where i stay but with this product im able to pick up signals from buildings as far away as 300-400 feet!!
if you travel alot and can never get a good signal at a hotel or something, i would highly recommend this =)
right now im accually using internet from a training school down the street. im about 250 feet away from it and im recieving 3-4 bars!!!
Customer Review: Increase WiFi signal strength at RV parks Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Hawking HWU8DD on the recommendation of several other RVers. WiFi signals at RV parks tend to be unreliable. Until now, the built-in antenna on my laptop could "see" the signal at my park but could not access it. As soon as I installed the software and connected the Hawking antenna via USB port, I immediately accessed my campground's signal. The Hawking antenna has solved a major problem for me.
Customer Review: Great for 32 bit Computers. But.... Summary: 5 Stars
I have had Hawking HWU8DD for two years, and it has functioned perfectly with my Windows XP 32 bitcomputer. However it will not work at all with my new Windows 7 64 bit computer. A tech at Hawking stated that, as of this time, Hawking does not offer a wireless USB adapter for windows 7 64 bit. I have found a Linksys AE 1000 that is purported to accommodate Windows 64 bit. As yet, I have not purchased it.
Customer Review: right box, wrong dish but still works Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered the HWU8DD and that's the box I got. But when I opened it, the dish inside was the HWU8DDA, which is the white one that is supposed to be for Macs. I decided to try it anyway. I downloaded the driver for the HWU8DD rev B and it works. This is good since my husband has a Mac he can use it too. It gets 3 bars when the internal wireless card on my PC only gets 1 and it never drops the signal.
Customer Review: Just as advertised Summary: 5 Stars
Pretty darn easy - installed the software, plugged it in, at home I went from seeing about 2-3 networks to 4-5, and then on the road, where I needed it most, got me 4 of 5 bars on the wifi connections where I was just getting 1 or 2 before.
I'm not wild about spending the money either, but if you need the range, it does what's advertised, can't beat it.
