This is the second set I've owned. I had the first pair for over a year and only had to replace them because I accidentally damaged the plug. The speakers still work GREAT!
I originally bought these speakers because they fit within my budget and was pleasantly overwhelmed and surprised by how great they sound. Even when it come to low end and bass they pull it off very nicely. I use them not only for music but while watching movies and have not been disappointed.
I would pay twice the price and still say: For the cost you CAN NOT BEAT THESE SPEAKERS!

I bought these to use with a Mac Mini and now use them with a MacBook Pro. These speakers have a lot going for them:
- clear, crisp sound
- more than loud enough to fill any home or office space
- sleek, attractive design, compliments MacBook Pro VERY well
I looked at 3-piece systems with subwoofer, but those were so large and had more cables (READ: unattractive). This system has nice sound with excellent looks. For the price, they can't be beat! I highly recommend them. (Also, no buzz with my computer -- must be the other reviewer's PC)

This is the second pair of JBL Duet Speakers I have owned. I purchased the first pair approximately five years ago (probably longer) for music playback/rehearsal. Unfortunately, I fried one of those speakers a few months ago with loud and intense bass (probably not the best choice for these speakers but I didn't realize how intense it would be).
I consider myself fortunate that these same speakers are available at Amazon, at an even cheaper price. For the cost, the sound is great and, with most levels of music, they will last forever.

I got these speakers in 2006 and I'm still enjoying them today. I read some of the reviews here and decided to leave one myself. These are computer speakers, you are only going to get out of them what you put in. If you are using the sound card built into your motherboard you may not have great sound quality. I'm using a SB Audigy and the sound is superb. The bass is awesome for a set of computer speakers. The bass isn't going to shake the walls or rattle the windows, if you want that buy a sub woofer and a good sound card.
