At first glance, I was somewhat dissapointed by the size and weight of the cool lift. I guests I was expecting something as large as my laptop. After using it for several weeks, I must say I'm very satisfied with the performance and construction. The angle the cool lift creates makes the keyboard much more comfortable to type and allows for a lot of airflow, keeping my laptop much cooler than before. I can tell because I don't hear the cpu fan running at jet engine mode anymore.
I used to put my laptop on dvd cases (similar effect), but started looking for something more stable when my notebook slipped off causing me concern about shock to the hard drive. Luckily I found the Handstand cool lift on amazon - great price btw, and it does exactly what I wanted. This is a very lightweight and compact unit making it convenient for travel. If you have a laptop, you should definitely pick up one of these. It'll help keep your notebook cooler and the more comfortable keyboard angle alone is worth it.

I love it. It's low tech. It does the job. That about says it all.
OK, some people need more information to be convinced, so here is the deal (and golly it is a good deal too!) I have gone through three, count them, three USB powered cooling fans for my laptop. After spending roughly $65 dollars on these one-year-losers, I decided to try out this low-tech option. To my amazement, it works. My lap top stays cooler, and my keyboard is lifted to a more comfortable angle. Sweet.
Do not spend your money on anything else. Really. Yes it is smaller than the size of a laptop, but it has always held mine securely, even when lounging on a Sunday morning with my lap desk and in my jammies. It is light weight, requires no power, and is VERY sturdy. If you really want to spend $20-30 on a USB cooler, crystal-filled mat, or gel mat, go right ahead, but you will be wasting some bucks. This is one low-tech gadget that does the job better and cheaper.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this stand! I really wish I had known about it months ago, because it would have saved me months of wrist/thumb pain. Not only does it take pressure off my wrists and hands when typing, it also bumps up the height of the laptop screen several inches. This is great for more compact laptops.
The angle of the laptop is *so* nice. It makes typing so much easier and my fingers are no longer numb and my wrists have stopped hurting.
I added two small squares of foam tape on the "bumps" of the stand to prevent my MacBook Pro from sliding around. It wasn't a big problem, but any movement of my computer bugs me, so I figured I'd nip that issue in the bud before it came up.
I *really* recommend this product to anyone who needs a little "height" to their laptop screen, who needs a more comfortable angle with their laptop keyboard, or wants their laptop to stay cooler during use.

Took me forever to find a small lightweight pad that I can throw in my carry-on bag when I travel. I didn't need or want a fan, or a bulky lap pad, I just wanted something that would lift my notepad off of the desk or bed in a hotel room so that it can get some air circulation. At 2.5 oz. this works great. As some have experienced, my particular notebook the fan intake on the bottom of my notebook is blocked by the back left "foot" on the pad, this occurs if I place my notebook exactly centered onto the pad. To solve this I simply place my notebook a little bit off-center on the pad, which is no problem as it is still stable. They could solve this problem by making the pad in two sizes, but for now this works fine.Customer Review: Perfect laptop cooling solution

The Handstands Cool Lift Portable Notebook Cooling Pad 22100 is so simple to use, doesn't make a sound, doesn't need to be plugged in, and absolutely does the job for which it's intended.
Plus, it's the least expensive notebook cooling solution I've seen.
My MacBook Pro 15" sits pretty securely on the Cool Lift (which I set on top of a beanbag lap desk), and keeps my laptop--and my lap--nice and cool. What a relief! My MacBook's fan, which before was running frequently (I do a lot of audio and video editing), hasn't run once since I've been using the Handstands Cool Lift. Love it, love it, love it!
