Customer Review: Not Just Good, It's Great
Summary: 5 Stars

Few things in life amaze me to the point to which i write a review but here geos: This is a long review but really worth reading explains everything.

I've had it for a week now and i just want to say it honestly exceeded my expectations. This thing works so well its unbeleivable, i thought it wouldn't really work but my previous laptop cooler broke down so i decided to try because i didn't wanna spend alot of money. This thing is just great lifes your laptop and makes it great for typing much more comfortable, i guarantee a 100% that your laptop will be much much cooler and all overheating problems will be eliminated. But you will have no heating problems if your fan just works properly. It lifts it up properly so it allows the air to be circulated. Just wanted to clarify what other low rating reviews failed to justify, yes this thing is tiny i mean i have a 17 inch laptop and i can pretty much tell you this thing isn't huge i would give it like 11 inches. But it is small for a reason it doesn't cover the fan vents which are under your laptop usually on the far left side, so the air will come out with no problems whatso ever. Second thing it is very safe it will hold your laptop up and it most definetly will not slip unless you positioned it wrong in the first place. Overall, exceeded my expectation for the price and i can tell from 2 years of experience with laptop coolers it works 10x times better.

This would make a really great purchase.

Customer Review: Tremendous solution for overheating notebook computers!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a 17" HP 9000 series notebook. HP sold thousands of these with a serious design flaw that results in extreme overheating of the upper left corner of the notebook, up by the on/off (power) button. The overheating is so severe that HP even did free repairs for the issue for a while. The heat causes the left screen hinge to fail, as well as the screen casing in my case. HP repaired my notebook but I knew it would fail again unless I addressed the underlying cause. I heavily researched cooling solutions. I had concluded that I required an expensive, large cooler with 2 fans. I was about to spend about $68 for the highly rated Zalman ZM-NC2000 Notebook Cooler when I came across this Handstands Cool Lift Portable Notebook Cooling Pad. It works like a charm! My notebook is staying very cool, the notebook's fan is staying off, putting less strain on my battery. HP should send one of these to each owner of their problematic 17" 9000-series notebook line. This cooling pad cost me $60 less than the Zalman would have, will draw zero energy from my notebook, and will fit quite easily in my notebook bag, unlike the Zalman or other large coolers would have. In conclusion, I do not believe that notebook coolers need to be large and clunky products with unnecessary fans; all you need is adequate air circulation underneath the notebook to prevent overheating. This product accomplishes that effectively, inexpensively and conveniently.

Customer Review: Great value, durable, simple
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this no-tech cooling stand as well as a fancy one with an internal fan that plugged into my laptop's USB port. The fancy one is now gathering dust. This product is super-affordable, and since I primarily use my laptop on a table (rather than, say, on my lap)all I really needed was to get a little lift to improve the air circulation and prevent overheating. This does the trick nicely. I bought this in 2008 (maybe 2007, I forget exactly) and the material hasn't gotten broken down- which I was initially a little concerned about when I got the product. It looks like it will be a cheesy, flimsy stand, but it performs much better than it's appearance would suggest. If memory serves, I only paid something like $6 for it (including shipping, since it was not eligible for the free shipping promo)- still an excellent value. Oh, and it fits easily into both my laptop carrying bags (briefcase style) without getting crushed or making the bags difficult to close or bulking them up. I have used it with 2 Dell laptops and an HP pavillion 17" screen laptop, and they are all slightly different dimensions, but the stand worked equally well with each model. Quite pleased with it, and I recommend the product without reservation.

Customer Review: Does the job at low cost
Summary: 5 Stars

I'd left my MacBook on a wood dining room table for weeks... usually on and often with heavy uses that kicked on the cooling fan. Knew there was some heat but didn't think it would cause thick oak to crack. This inexpensive gizmo would have prevented the damage and an upset wife the day before Thanksgiving. It is small but it holds my computer steady with ample breathing space underneath to keep both computer and table cool. It should work fine with most laptops 15" and smaller and with most larger ones on a flat table top. Light and easy to pack for travel. I actually find the angle more comfortable than having the computer flat on the table. It should work fine on any flat surface including a bed (how much heat builds up when a computer is settled into soft surfaces?). The dense foam resists slipping on a table top, but doesn't stick to the surface like some mats/pads tend to do. Wouldn't be much use on one's lap or legs (as noted in product description it isn't for that), but with reasonable attentiveness to movements, should work on even a slightly tilted lap desk. At $7 it is a great deal that does exactly what it advertises. Will probably order a couple more for family members.

Customer Review: Simple, functional, great price
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had my "cool lift" for about a week, and it works beautifully. It's a simple foam pad that lifts the back of your laptop off the desk surface, requiring less work by your machine's cooling fan (ergo longer battery life if you're portable). My Toshiba has a hot spot under my left wrist, and the lift has improved that dramatically. The added benefit is a comfortable typing angle on a table or desk (I'm not sure why another reviewer thought this was for your lap [different product - see lap desk], or why they would be placing their laptop on a slanted surface and expecting this item to hold it in place [duh]). The product is smaller than your laptop, but offers solid support with virtually no "give" as you work. Finally, it's small size also allows you to throw it in the briefcase or backpack without sacrificing a lot of room.

I notice there are currently two offerings of this same product from amazon.com at two different price points. One listing adds four bucks to the price and offers FREE Super Saver shipping. This would be the best way to go if you're looking for a deal, as the shipping from Handstands is six and a half bucks.
