I Use it in both, the sound quality is great i am just a beginner in this Midi, but i am pleased with amazon and The maker of this product. simple instructions. and the price cannot be beat. a few bucks for those who would like to be a home recording studio it is perfect,
Also Great for Laptops to carry with you.
To Let you Know I don't recommend much but this is a must get today.
I don't see any problems with this at all.

Hi! I got this to use with a Yamaha Electric Piano YDP 101, and Apple's Garage Band. Plugged it into the piano, plugged it into the USB connection on both a MacBook (2006) and a MacBookPro (2009) running OS X 10.6, and it Just Worked (TM). My kids have been using it to take the Garage Band piano lessons, and it's really cool to press a key and see it show up on the staff.
I don't have a lot of ambition to do produciton, etc, but for a cable that makes the piano operate well with OS X, this seems to be a cheap option. Construction looks pretty robust, though it's been only about a month.

this product is a pretty good buy for a low price. MIDI OUT/IN Are switch. Works Great With My Yamaha PSR 260. My Yamaha Is now hooked up with Reason 3, Fl(Fruity loops) 7, Mixcraft 4, Sibelius 5, and Guitar Pro 5. At first it was giving me latency but i figured it out. I decided to learn to play piano and discovered I needed a way to connect a keyboard to my Mac. I did a search on the internet and found many options of which cost about the same amount (between $40 and $60). Then I clicked a link to amazon for this product. To find out the cost was only a fraction of what others wanted for the same thing caused me to be skeptical. I ordered it anyway.
It arrived quickly (even before my keyboard) and when I got to first connect it to my Mac it worked perfectly.
Now I am learning how to play my keyboard.

It comes with all the instructions you need printed on a single piece of paper. It's incredibly simple. You plug it in and it just works. Surprisingly, no driver installation disc is necessary.
I connected it from my Yamaha Clavinova to my MacBook so I now have the natural feel (and therefor natural sound) of weighted keys when recording MIDI into my DAWs.
If you're having trouble getting it to work right you either have IN and OUT mixed up or you need to check the MIDI settings of your music software.
This product is awesome. Buy it.
