Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PS2 to PS3 Playstation Controller Adapter USB ConverterCustomer Review: An excellent cheap way to play on the PS3!! Summary: 4 Stars
Well, I bought this product not to just play PS3 with my PS2 controllers; but instead I wanted to see if this product would work with my PS2 multiplayer adapter (Pelican model--very old and bulky but can hold up to 5 controllers on the PS2). It will work, but only with what is plugged into position "A" on the Multi-tap. With the Multi-tap still plugged in, I experimented with my 4 PS2 wireless controllers (very small controllers that I picked up at Target for $30 a set--which work wonderful on the PS2 even all 4 hooked up to the same Multitap I tried using on the PS3). They all worked, but only in position "A". Somewhat dissappointed (yet not surprised), you basically get a very good cheap controller to work on the PS3.Now, I did try this out with two different PS1 thirdparty controllers and they worked!! I even used the PS1 multitap--all my PS1, PS2 wired and wireless controllers worked(only in position "A" again).
Customer Review: Great for everything except what I needed it for... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this product to use with my computer more than with my ps3 (yes it really does work that way). After plugging in the adapter my windows 7 based pc found the drivers for it instantly. I then configured it (in the menu of the game) to be my input for a game called stepmania (ddr's advanced and free cousin). It works great navigating the menu and selecting songs, but then once you are in game, there is just enough lag that you can't hit any arrows on time.
In short, if you are looking to adapt handheld controllers to games that aren't as precise as ddr, pump it up, in the groove, stepmania, etc. then this will work just fine for you.
**sidenote: There is a slight possibility that the lag is caused by my computer... but the game worked fine with my other usb ps3 controller..
Customer Review: cheap and works with PC Summary: 4 Stars
I tried this adapter because I was getting fed up with the poor quality of gamepads manufactured for exclusive use with a PC. A friend told me that PS3 controllers are supposed to work well with a PC when plugged in the USB port, and I have a spare PS2 controller from a broken PS2 console, so I took a chance.
It works almost flawlessly. There's an almost imperceptible delay in my setup. I don't think I would have noticed it if I hadn't been looking for it. Other than that, it was immediately recognized by the PC, and everything works like I would expect.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.04, so I can't speak for the Windows users, but I don't see any reason Windows wouldn't also recognize it.
Customer Review: Works as it should Summary: 4 Stars
pretty simple product, just plug and play. I've been using this on my computer for some of my pc games.
The only issue I've had is that games requiring repeated taps(very fast taps)tend not to pick up half the time, however this might not be the adapters fault and could be the game.
The only thing I dislike is that the cord is a bit heavy near the USB side and I had to tape the controller cord near the plug on the table so it doesn't fall off and pull/mess up the plug. This is not the adapters fault though mainly a faulty plug design.
Customer Review: Good Controller Adapter Summary: 4 Stars
This adapter worked perfectly for my intended purposes. I needed a PS1 controller to work with my PS3 and this adapter does the trick. For PS3 games that don't require the Sixaxis technology, it's nice to be able to recycle old hardware with the new system.
The only downside is that it didn't work with an old PS2 joystick I had lying around. I couldn't get that to work on my PS3. Fortunately, that's not why I bought this adapter.
