Customer Review: Works on PS3 slim if you don't need tilt or guitars Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this adapter so my wife could use one of my existing PS2 wireless controllers in multi-player games like Little Big Planet. Obviously the PS2 controllers do not have the tilt sensors of the new PS3 hardware, but otherwise it works for most games. I tried out a PS2 GH-compatible guitar controller to see if it would work too, but the button mapping does not transfer correctly and PS3 games (at least the Harmonix ones I have) do not recognize it as a guitar controller.
Tip: Many 2 player games (fighters, Legos, etc) will look for controllers assigned "1" and "2" and ignore the rest. So, if you are like me and have two guitars and a drum set dongle always plugged in, and then add this PS2 adapter after the system is booted up, you may have some trouble as the new controller will be assigned #4 or 5 and be ignored by those 2 player games. Before you give up on it, try removing the PS2 adapter and all your rhythm gaming controllers, then plug the PS2 adapter back in. It should now check in as controller #1 (#2 if you left your six-axis controller awake as #1) and you should be ready to play.
Customer Review: Great for adding players. Summary: 4 Stars
This product actually was more than I expected. It is almost exactly like the ps3 controller however it isn't wireless. The controller it self works completely and even though the R2 and L2 button aren't like the ps3's, it still works fine. However, there are some annoying parts. The controller is sort of hard to connect because it doesn't have a home/ps button in between the select and start but it should take less than 2-3 minutes to connect. That's only a problem if you need to switch to the 1rst player controller from the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th controller. I usually use this when a friend comes over and can play with it but this is NOT a replacement for your original ps3 controller which you should always have. Also, the sixaxis functionality wont work on this so you should use it for games that don't need it, which are most off the ps3 games.
It's cheap, I works, and if you have a ps2 controller that you think you may never use, you might want to get this.
