This little Bluetooth adapter is an excellent addition to a computer that does not have BT built-in. I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 with Vista, and the adapter works great with my PC. I do have to say that it was not exactly plug and play. You need to have some skill with computers to squeeze all the features out of the software. I was able to connect it to my HTC Touch Pro 2 to perform file transfers. It even lets me look at the files on my phone in an explorer view.
I can listen to MP3s but as a previous user mentioned it does skip from time to time. Music playback was not as bad as I thought it would be. To use the device with Windows Media Player you have pair with a BT headset with the A2DP profile and then change your default audio output device on your PC by opening "playback devices" when right-clicking on the speaker icon on the taskbar. MP3 playback was GREATLY affected by the range of the device, which is no more than ~10 ft if you want to maintain high quality.
You should be aware that the software included with this dongle has been discontinued by BlueSoleil ([...]), which probably explains the [...] price. The version that I received was 2.6 and they are currently offering 6.4 for about a $40 upgrade. The increased BT speed and other features did not seem worth the cost of the upgrade. I think the dongle as sold is very usable for an intermediate to advanced user. You will likely be plesantly surprised by how many BT profiles this small, inexpensive device supports.
My suggestion: Order 5 of them because they are cheap relative to shipping and you can give them as gifts :). I only ordered 2 and regretted not ordering more almost immediately because I have other computers that need one too.
