Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin nuvi 880 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS NavigatorCustomer Review: NUVI 880, A GREAT PRODUCT Summary: 5 Stars
I'm hooked on Nav systems. I really got it for my RAV4 to replace a NUV 660 which I liked very much. I have (had) built-in Navs on several cars. The latest is a Lexus 460L. The Lexus is reported to have one of the very best Nav systems. It is very good. But in many respects, the NUVI 880 is better. The voice recognition is vastly superior. There seems to be more POIs. Destinations to remote areas are superior in the 880.
I'm planning a trip to Ohio next week in the Lexus and will be taking the 880 with me and use it in conjunction with the Lexus Nav. For one thing, unlike the Lexus, the 880 will take me to the exact address of an out-of-the-way place. And the other advantage is that the 880 shows the current highway speed limit as well as the current speed of the car--good speed control.
And it's great to find the cheapest gas, curent weather, stock quotes, the current news, and 'where am I", with immediate access to police and hospitals.
I love the 880; give it a 5 star+.Garmin nüvi 880 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Customer Review: Great GPS!!! ........unfortunately poor customer service Summary: 5 Stars
After having used several GPS products Garmin has really outdone themselves on this
one. The voice recognition has preformed almost flawlessly. Any faults I
can attribute to myself by trying to give too much information when searching
for places. The less spoken the better. I have a tendancy to provide too
much detail for the query, which causes it to think too long. Again I count
this as user error. You learn very quickly the ease of use with Nuvi 880 is
a very natural progression. I wouold highly reccomend this to anyone
looking for the best.
I did find pricing a little less on other web sites but chose
Amazon.com thinking if If I had any issues they would correct them.
Unfortunately, they did not stock the unit as is the case
on many items and when I had some minor issues with the purchase
regarding shipping charges, open box etc. Electronica Direct the seller
used by Amazon did not respond to my concerns and were somewhat arrogant
whithout even addressing my issues. That being said, I would not let
this get in the way of a truly GREAT GPS. Shop around for pricing though.
Customer Review: The Best GPS Summary: 5 Stars
This is probably he best portable GPS out there right now. I previously had a NUVI 660 which was also great, but without MSN Direct ot Voice Recognition. The voice recognition is terrific, and I was amazed at how it could recognize different voices with the same results. You activate the voice recognition with a button device that fastens around the steering wheel. It's a little awkward and sometimes gets in the way when I am in a turn. I compensated for this by rotating the button down on the inboard side of the steering wheel so that all you feel is the strap that holds it to the wheel. If the passenger is navigating, you have to tell the driver to push the button. It would be nice to have another button located on the passenger side somewhere. You have to turn the radio down, and close the windows for VR to work properly, but that's the nature of them all. MSN Direct works as advertized, and I especially like the Gas Prices feature. All-in-all it's pricey, but that's the way they market the new and improved items. If you want the latest, and greatest, this is the one.
Customer Review: Garmen 880 Nuvi GPS Summary: 5 Stars
I received my Garmin Nuvi 880 just before heading up North to Maine for a Vacation. It arrived early. The "extra" charger that I thought I might need did not fit the product which requires a special charger to get MSN so be careful---not the sellers fault--I thought maybe the seller would short change the order and leave out critical parts whcih was not the case. The unit came complete with special charger, mounts and instructions.
I love the unit but most of all having dealt with Garmin in the past, I know they they are very customer oriented and was shown that agin on a question regarding the remote which they sent out a backup just in case. I had had a Tom Tom just prior and their customer service was terrible.
Very satisfied with the product just concerned that right after I bought it it became "obsolete" and they stopped making that model even though consumers gave it the highest grade.
Customer Review: This is a GREAT GPS Summary: 5 Stars
I've had a Garmin 660 that I have loved for the past couple of years so decided to give my spouse the latest & greatest for Christmas this year. We drove across country using this newer model & we couldn't be happier! Garmin has improved on several items from previous versions, such as the volume controls--now you can select which part you want muted, such as voice commands, but keep the bluetooth and entertainment (ie: audiobooks, MP3) at desired levels. There are also several other features that have been improved & they are all quite handy. The only complaint I would have on the logic of the device is some of the routing information--if I am on a specific route & I select the weather or restaurant feature, it would be nice if it gave you an option to just get the information that is in line with the specific route. If that is my only complaint, then you know it is a good device! I highly recommend it.
