Customer Review: Garmin GPS exceeds expectations
Summary: 5 Stars

Having exhaustively researched GPSs of the portable, 'Personal Assistant type, and aware of Garmins reputation as both a market leader and innovator, my expectations were high for this new technology which I'd only read about, but never seen in use. After receiving the product, and using it for the first of many times, I was constantly amazed by its versatility, exceptionally user-friendly interface, features such as "lodging", "Food", etc. which were, when employed in my own neighborhood, spot on in accuracy and ease of use. It's ability to 'simulate' a route when satellite acquisition is not possible was truly amazing. It's most basic function, mapping s route from a given location to the trip destination was extraordinary, and the visual map, audio instructions, and ancillary data such as ETA, driving data including speed, mileage, and so on blew me away. All doubts I harbored regarding its ease of use, accuracy, etc. about this first GPS I bought and used for the first time vanished the instant I turned it on and began experimenting, and learning about how to use it. I can honestly say it is one of those uncommon products which not only meets but FAR exceeds one's expectations. I recommend it whole-heartedly and without resrvation.

Customer Review: Great Product
Summary: 5 Stars

I absolutely adore this GPS. My first one and I'm not at all disappointed. It's so easy to learn, and the CD that comes with it is very helpful (I just needed it to help setting the time and 'Home'). The thing I found out is you just have to trust it - it will get you where you're going. Sometimes instinct wants you to go the way you've always gone, for example, but if you follow the GPS you'll be pleasantly surprised. Sometimes, it's a little longer, but you find new routes that way. The one thing I wish were different is: when you're driving on a road (Main Street for example) and you cross over into another town, it doesn't verbally tell you the name of the street has changed. It shows the new name at the top of the screen but it would be nice to have it say: "Road is now Maple Street." Other than that, so far, it's been great and I don't know how we ever lived without them. I bought the weighted dash mount instead of using the windshield mount for security reasons (I guess thieves look for the tell-tale ring on the windshield and then break in). I paid around $12 for the dash mount - well worth it. Then I just take the GPS in my purse and hide everything else in the glove compartment. Have fun!

Customer Review: Garmin 370 - AKA: "Jill"
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this GPS Navigator before our fall 2008 trip to the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France and we took it back on our spring 2009 trip to Scotland. This device was a total lifesaver...the maps of the UK and Europe were absolutely amazing. I can't imagine traveling to Europe without a Garmin, we named "her", "Jill" because of the female voice used for directions. Once we realized how reliable "she" was we never opened our Michelin maps again. Especially useful in larger cities, where navigating can be a bit hair-raising. If you make a wrong turn, "she" very carefully gets you out of trouble and back on your way. Especially liked that the European maps were preloaded, made it a better deal from the beginning. Other useful features include Bluetooth for phone, language translator, money converter and a pedestrian function which will give walking directions from point to point...very useful in Paris and other large "walking" cities. I've updated it once on line (for free) and it's a process, just pay attention to the menus. The "package" to update the GPS is pricey at $150.+/-, so I probably won't do that often, but most places in Europe where we use it change very little.

Customer Review: Very happy with our Nuvi
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought our Nuvi prior to a trip to Europe and then Newport, RI and South Bend, IN. It is really an amazing little device. Excellent for the car, finds the most obscure little streets and is invaluable for travel. It allows you to save your current location so that you can easily return to it as well as retrieve the most recent places viewed. Its search function is amazing -- we were able to find the four or five (or more) closest Starbuck's, Home Depot's and Friday's while traveling in Chicago. Another great feature is the POI (Points of Interest). We had preloaded some POI's into the Garmin, prior to going to Europe, and when we approached each one, the Garmin started telling us about them (for instance, as we neared the David in Florence, we heard the five minute history on the famous Michelangelo sculpture). The only problem we encountered was using the pedestrian mode - although the Garmin could give us direction, we would often pass a turn and walk almost a block before we realized that we missed the turn - there was no "recalculating" in the pedestrian mode. Overall, we are thrilled with our purchase and highly recommend it to anyone who travels.

Customer Review: eliminates stress
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought the 370 in April prior to a trip south to visit friends. We went for the 370 for use on our frequent trips to Uk and Europe. We have not used it there yet but if the USA performance is typical it will be fine.It is a great system; easy to use [manual not great] and never failed to get me where we wanted to go.Eliminated the MRS. getting abuse when she didn't read the map quickly enough. We challenged it by visiting friends in some very rural areas but it never failed. Display bright, and large enough. Sound is a little distorted.Being able to find local restaurants and gas stations also was an unexpected pleasure.Would strongly recommend it.
Have not used the blue tooth option. Tried the traffic alert AND NEVER GOT A MESSAGE.On return trip Washington D.C I 95 backed up for hours but no traffic alert which was disappointing. Will not renew that option when 6 Months trial runs out.
I had not used another system but used my fathers when with him in Fla.It was a Sears unit and poor in comparison in numerous areas. Also much simpler then my sons BMW built in in the Uk and a friends built in Mercedes system.
