My husband bought me this Nav system because we are stationed in Germany and he is deployed for 15 months! I am seriously challenged when it comes to tech gear...but this system is SO EASY to use. We tried it out right out of the box...comes preloaded with tons of fun and practical locations. I love that we can use it in a pedestrian mode so even if we visit a big city, we can save our car's location and spend the day on subways and trains and still make it back to our car. It uses addresses or coordinates and is very easy to use. I love that it reroutes itself if you miss a turn (very handy for Europe since road directions are sometimes a challange). No matter how lost I get myself (which I shouldn't with this!!) I can just ask it to take me home and home we go! Also, every place of interest we visit we can save to the system (without having to know the address, just "save current location")and I don't have to worry about remembering addresses again, I can just ask it to go "such and such" next time we want to visit and it's there, no problem. There is no "programming" to worry about. It just brings up your list of locations to choose from (or type the address or coordinates). Also, it will let you ask for points of interest in other cities so you can browse those and preplan a trip if you like. It has found fun stuff we weren't aware of. Very handy, and gives much needed peace of mind for me and the kids (he also purchased a roadside assistance program so I wouldn't be afraid to actually get out and use this while he's away!). We don't go on any long trips without "Jill" any more. She's great - quite helpful in North America, and totally invaluable in Europe, where the signage in some countries is difficult to interpret at times.
You already know how great the Garmin products are in North America - so I won't waste your time on that.
Where Jill has really helped us out it on trips to Europe. I have had her guide me through Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Czech Republic thus far, without any difficulties. Quite impressed at her database - I often go orienteering, which takes me well off the beaten path and onto back roads that other GPS systems didn't have in their databases. For example, in Czech this year, some friends rented a car in Prague with on-board GPS, while I rented one without and brought along Jill instead (a good savings there already, by the way). We were quite surprised to find that their GPS (rented in Czech) only had major roadways and larger cities on it, while Jill was able to navigate us successfully through the back roads and forests of the country.
If you need to travel a lot, and especially if you need to drive alone in a new country, then you ought to have a GPS with you. And this Garmin series is quite impressive, both in terms of features and database. They are also quite readable on the move, and very portable (and durable). I travel often with this GPS unit, and definitely don't baby it. It's tough, and has withstood a fair bit of abuse at our hands. When the time comes to replace this unit, another Garmin will definitely be coming our way.

We bought this unit for two reasons. It was only double what a unit would have been from our car rental company during a vacation, and our son will be travelling in the US and Europe for the next 5 months or so and we thought he would find it useful. This Nuvi 370 is a nice upgrade over the dealer installed GPS unit in my BMW, which I believe is made by Magellan - not a surprise since it's 7 years newer, but GPS is now a tenth the cost it was then, and is much more useful. The Nuvi recalculates very quickly after a missed turn. It's very easy to program the addresses, and the "favorites" feature was very useful. It seemed that the unit stayed charged for quite a while and it recharged quickly, but we didn't time it for this review. Being able to switch modes, say from auto to bicycle to pedestrian, is also really helpful. The screen was easy to read both at night and during bright sunlight. We found no errors in the maps. Travelling through the midwest, we were able to locate restaurants and gas stations very quickly. We didn't lose connectivity anywhere. During one segment of our trip, the Nuvi calculated a route that was quite different than the one we usually take that we're familiar with. There was some discussion whether we should follow our familiar route or "listen to the lady in the box". The Nuvi route was faster and smoother - the lady knows. Every once in while though, the lady's accent was a little clipped on pronunciation, so that "nineteen" sounded like "ninety". No buyer's remorse here.Customer Review: Don't know I lived without it.

Had been waiting for a device with both North America and Europe preloaded. Was partial to the Garmin interface as I had become used to it through a number of Avis rentals. When Garmin released the -x70 models, I moved out quickly. The 370 had all the features I was looking for - and is very portable. That last feature was very important since twice over the past few years, I parked our rental on some back street in Europe and then spent hours trying to find it.
Am I happy with the 370? Absolutely! Mounting is straightforward and strong. Audio and video are both great. Alerts are timely and succinct. Very accurate. Was visiting a firm in Florida a few weeks back. Followed one of their reps to the plant, but since I had to return there the next day, I saved the plant's location - just used the 'save current location' feature. The next day the 370 got me back to the same parking space! The user interface is intuitive - and eventhough the manual is rather thick, I have yet to open it. The traffic monitor has already gotten me around a number of major snarls.
Will be vacationing in Germany and Austria in the fall. Programmed our hotels, etc into the 370 - no problems whatever. Now the wife can enjoy the scenery while we blast along the Autobahn rather than constantly having to stay glued to the roadmap. And, yes, I've used it on long walks. Works great there, too. Very light and long battery life.
As I said, I don't know how I lived without it.

Purchased this item to replace an older Street Pilot, one of the best upgrades dollar for dollar I've made. The unit responds well to every condition I have experienced thus far. On start up it acquires satellite lock within seconds, most of the time instantaneous. When I take a different route, it calculates the new route just as fast. I love downloading music to the unit and using my headphones as a portable mp3 player. I paid for the lifetime traffic updates seperately as well as speed and red light cameras and they work very well. I have paired my phone with the units' bluetooth and that is my only issue. I can hear callers great, but they don't hear me as well as I would like. Still, not having to fumble for the phone to answer a call while driving is a big safety issue for me, turning down the radio volume is a minor tradeoff.
Setting up custom POI's and navigating thru the menu did require a learning curve as well as going back to the cd manual for direction. Downloading to the unit is easy once you've familiarized yourself, but it was not something I could do right out of the box. Also, having to pay for new maps is a bummer, but most of my traveling is within 100 miles so I feel comfortable depending on the current version. I believe because of the map detail, there should be little problem staying on track if new patterns are not recognized by this version when I take longer trips. All in all, I would highly recommend the unit.
