Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin nüvi 265W/265WT 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with Traffic

Customer Review: Great Product!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used my Garmin Nuvi 265W for several months now in three Western States and I am extremely impressed! The speed limit indicator is extremely accurate; I found only one place that the speed limit on the GPS did not change within 20 feet of the physical speed limit sign post and that zone had just been recently changed, everywhere else changed within 20 feet of the sign and usually dead on the sign. The FM Traffic feature is very useful and pretty accurate, when it is available. I have used the Points of Interest (POI) feature many times to find stores and restaurants.... all I can say is that it is like having a tour guide in your pocket that knows the best places and all addresses have a phone number to call ahead.

One of the reviews that I read before I bought this device said the voice too low to hear, but I have a hearing problem and I have NO problem hearing the voice guidance even with the radio on. I also tried this in two cars. I have not tried the Blue Tooth hands free device yet as I have an ear piece that I usually use.

The maps in the US are clear and accurate. The only issue that I have is that Garmin does not have accurate maps for more places in SE Asia.

I bought this from Amazon, and the shipping showed up right when the estimate said it would.

Overall, if you are looking for a voice directed GPS in this price range I highly recommend it!

Customer Review: Worth the upgrade
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this Nuvi to upgrade to bluetooth phone capability...I am in Ca several times a year and it is illegal to use cell phone with your hands. The free traffic receiver was an added bonus.

Bluetooth Capability: With one exception the bluetooth phone capability has been a great upgrade, not just for Ca. The exception is that my 3 year old phone's software won't download my contacts to the Nuvi. My neighbor has a newer model of my smartphone and it does download contacts to his Nuvi which is identical to mine.

Traffic Receiver: This free traffic service works as advertised. There are small unobtrusive ads that appear but that isn't a negative considering the service is free.

Speed Limit Display: Probably one of the biggest bonus' of the upgrade was getting the speed limit display. Often I will be driving along and realize I don't know what the speed limit is so I just go with the "flow". This has been particularly beneficial when I am driving in a new area.

Interface: The Nuvi's interface is a definite upgrade over my last Nuvi. Better placement of touchscreen controls and easier to get to the most frequently used controls. Actually, the user interface is very intuitive to use. The "Where Am I" function is a particular improvement for me...just touch the car icon and that screen comes up making it easy to save a location, such as a parking location.

Customer Review: Can't Live Without One
Summary: 5 Stars

The 265WT Nuvi is the first GPS navigation system I have owned. I always used Mapquest to get me from point A to point B. The Nuvi beats Mapquest hands down. Things that I find essential about the Nuvi:

The touch screen GUI is very intuitive for me. After using it the first time, I have not referred to instructions since.

While traffic info is not available in many areas that I travel in, it is available for the Baltimore/DC/Northern VA area and automatically reroutes me if, due to a traffic delay, the original route is now longer than an alternate route. I don't have to do anything.

I did not worry about the packaged points-of-interest but find that I use them fairly frequently. Just today, I went from a project location to a golf course. On the way to the golf course, my golfing partners informed me our plans changed and I had to go to another course. Both courses were in the Nuvi so I did not have to look up addresses and, since I was coming from a project site rather than my home, the Nuvi gave me faster routes than I would have selected on my own.

The ability to speak the street names is a great feature. I don't have to concentrate on the screen since I hear the street name. I just watch the road and street signs to follow along.

I definitely would buy this model again if given a mulligan (another golf reference) on the purchase.

Customer Review: Great GPS in comparison to others!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I myself researched all GPS available by multiple company's and settled on the 265wt as an upgrade to the 255 which i previusly owned and loved before i dropped and broke it.
I find the prices when you search for this unit are so inexpensive that one couldn't go wrong, i got my 265wt for $149.00 the first time from Costco, and $115.00 this time thru Amazon(My car was broken into and even though I have the GPS still, the traffic receiver cord was stolen and will cost more through Garmin than buying a whole new GPS system in the box thru Amazon! So now I will have a back up GPS lol.. and remember if you have a Traffic Receiver Cord DO NOT LEAVE IT IN YOUR CAR AS THEIVES KNOW HOW MUCH $ IT IS WORTH!).

I love my 265wt even though the bluetooth in my area is not very good the traffic feature is pretty good for warning you although not always completely accurate it has always warned me of worse traffic than what it actually is so if anything I have ended up early not late!
I can easily promise people what time I will arrive and be accurate within 5 minutes! I have been lucky so far to not have problems with the 2 garmins i have owned but also I purchase them usually from Costco as they have a 90 day no hassle refund/exchange policy which lessens the stress if the unit doesn't work properly.

Rediculously great price for such an easy to use product!

=)

Customer Review: Best Nuvi model - Best bang for the buck
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the model to buy. Why? Short & simple: You absolutely must have the TRAFFIC feature. Ignore online reviews that state it is not necessary - because these people most likely live in a city where it is not supported, and they just have not left their hometown yet.

I just finished a 12,000 mile cross-country trek, and it made the Nuvi twice as useful in Memphis, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and others. The whole idea is to save you both Time avoid traffic jams (which you cannot get back) and Money (saved fuel helps the Nuvi pay for itself).

Even if you do not live in one of the 50 or so supported major cities, once you hit the road, you will most likely pass thru one of these supported regions - and WHEN YOU PERSONALLY SEE IT IN ACTION IT WILL SIMPLY AMAZE YOU! Isn't part of the GPS concept to enable you to explore areas off the beaten track? And in doing so, you have no way of predicing where the pileups will occur due to road construcion, once you wish to get back onto the Expressway. Many times, avoiding the Interstate for a few more miles is the best decision - but you need this feature to make an informed decision!

The 760 model is nice, but more complicated, and nearly 2x the price. Do yourself a favor, get the 265WT - you will be completely satisfied with its feature set and value for your hard earned dollars.
