Customer Review: No more costly navagation system for me.
Summary: 5 Stars

I had used the navagation system that is built into my car for nearly 3 years. I loved that service and believed that no regular GPS would be as convienient but was tired of paying the high fees. For what I paid in fees for about 5 months I now own a top of the line GPS. I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to operate and it really doesn't take any longer to type in the information for my destination than to wait for their "advisor" to do the very same thing plus I get a visual as well as auditory signal which I didn't in my car's system. Of course my new GPS can not unlock my doors or call for emergency help--but thankfully these are not services I have needed.

With this GPS I love that I can choose the fastest, shortest, or most fuel efficient route plus set it to avoid such things as tole roads, highways or u-turns.

The blue-tooth phone connection is great but with my phone I have to go into the settings and turn the blue-tooth on and off after each time I want it available in the car. This may be a limitation of my cell phone but because it requires me to connect the blue tooth each time I get in the car and then remember to disconnect I don't use it much. When I have used it the connection was very clear.

Both the display and vocal directions are extremely clear. The route highlighted in pink and the display giving the road name and distance make anticipating upcoming turns easy with only a glance at the GPS. Advance verbal cues let you know which direction you are exiting on highway exchanges. I love the 4.3 display--very easy to see yet doesn't block my view and fits nicely in my purse.

I haven't driven in heavy traffic so I don't know about the Traffic feature

I am extremely happy with this GPS. I have found it very efficient and easy to use.

Customer Review: Great First Portable GPS Navigator Unit
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first Portable GPS Navigator, so my review may not be as all encompassing as other reviewers. There are a lot of reviews on this unit and I have only read a few. I'll make it short and sweet as to what I like and don't like about it. I had picked up a tomtom first, but had to return it because it was missing some documentation in the box. I'm glad that happened because it was obvious that this was a better purchase.

Really nice thing on this unit is that it has bluetooth so you can sync it with your cell phone and use it to talk while driving. My first time using bluetooth and it is awesome that this unit has that feature, even though that wasn't one of the features I was looking for. The quality of the bluetooth seems really good - probably not the best out there but I couldn't review on that particular feature because I'm a novice.
It loaded the maps with no problem. Takes a few hours but I think that's universal with all GPS units.
It's traffic enabled but you have to buy that feature from Garmin - I didn't understand that when I bought it. I like that I have the ability to purchase that option at any time I want. Right now I live in the sticks so I don't really need it but when I move back to the city I will probably add that on.
It speaks clearly.
Seems to do everything a GPS should do.
I like the screen size. I checked out the 5 inch units and they just seemed way to big. If it was built in to your car maybe, but not for me.

Basically, if you are looking for your first GPS this is a great unit at a great price. There are so many out there I'm not sure how any first time buyer of them can decide on which one to buy. I got it at a great price and the fact that it had bluetooth sealed the deal.

Customer Review: Such a great product...we ended up buying TWO!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best navigator we have found.

The free traffic feature (which needs no additional programming, downloading or attachments) is a wonderful feature. It re-routes me automatically when traffic is too heavy.

It's a little frustrating that the highway names are given in ther form of State Routes instead of the popular names for them (for example in Miami, the Dolphin expressway is SR-836...now I have to learn the SR name for all the highways and roads).

The screen is HUGE and very easy to read the street names and see the intersections you are crossing; little to no glare are noticeable. I love that it tells me that my turns are coming up in X number of feet...makes it easy to know exactly where to turn.

The extra features like tracking my trip information and speed history are wonderful; especially for work trips that require that I track this information...just remember, you need to reset the trip information before every trip you want to track, if not, you'll be tracking the entire information since you bought the machine.

The online website is also easy to use. It's very much up to date in terms of maps and new construction...anyoen who lives in Miami will love that the traffic alert actually knows which highway is closed; even though the closures change hourly it seems.

The mount it comes with is easy to use and not at all cluncky. Also, the battery life is wonderful (but it does come with a car charger).

Overall, the product is wonderful. I'll never again be afraid of getting lost or getting stuck in traffic. Plus, we loved the product so much, and found it SO easy to use that we got one for my technologically challenged mother. :)

Customer Review: Nice features and ease of use
Summary: 5 Stars

We loved our Nuvi 205 and so when we needed another navigator, we got a 265WT. Like the 205, it is very easy to use and has many nice features that we like. It is easy to enter addresses and to find destinations like restaurants and public buildings. It is very quick in providing recalculations (within about 3 seconds). We like the portability. The traffic alert feature is a nice one that we have benefited from in the short time we have had the unit. We don't mind the ads that appear at the top of the screen, since they are not obstructive. The 3D view is a subtle improvement but one we appreciate. The wide variety of languages and voices is a good feature, but we could not find a perfect combination of clarity and pleasant voice and intonation that still spoke the street names. The American English voices seem too terse and directive, making one feel that the unit is giving orders rather than guidance. We have settled for the British female voice and have gotten used to terms like "slip road" instead of "exit ramp". The American female voice of the Nuvi 205 (which we like the best) is also in the 265, but it does not speak street names. Having the street name spoken is very useful, especially when given well in advance as well as when the turn is about a short distance away. However, we wish it would not repeat the street name again at the point of turning. It gets a bit unnecessary when it had just given the name 30 seconds before. But better to have it than not, so we just joke about it with "Yes, yes. You said it already!" So, despite falling a bit short of 100%, the Nuvi 265WT has been a welcome addition to our vehicle that makes us feel like we have a human companion providing guidance and peace of mind.

Customer Review: Great Buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Garmin Nuvi 265wt on Amazon for $106. This device is an excellent value. The screen is easy to read. The voice is easy to understand. The routing is pretty intuitive. Sometimes I want to go a different way to my destination due to traffic or ease of turning another way. The device instantly reroutes and understand the way you want to go and gives you directions from your new path.

The only minor problem is that I was trying to navigate to a Radio Shack and it took me to a restaurant the other day. I'm pretty sure the site used to be a Radio Shack. Last week I was trying to find a Long John Silvers and it took me to a Starbucks that sits where Long John Silvers used to be. This is really no big deal. I have had similar problems using the yellow pages, the internet, and even 411.

Overall the capabilities are exceptional. I use the Nuvi to find phone numbers of businesses all the time--its like my own personal service directory. Since I have a Bluetooth equipped phone, I simply press the number on the Nuvi's screen and talk to someone. Lets say hypnotically I wanted to find the lowest cost of a car battery. I can look up the numbers and call the closest services and then immediately route my car to the store to pick it up. This has helped me save plenty of time and gas.

The device is not at all confusing to use, though I recommend poking around the menus when you first get it...its very intuitive and more meaningful than just reading the manual. I'm sure there are more things for me to discover, but the nuts and bolts of the device are relatively simple to understand.

For the price, I would definitely buy this again.
