The Garmin updates were easy to upload. I received the card in the mail and I went on line with the activation code. After this I connected the USB cord to the back of the Garmin and the back of my PC and within two hours I had brand new maps. Also, if you had some recent addresses in your system that you wanted to save as favorite places, save them before you do the downloads or the downloads will overwrite the pertinent information in the addresses. The first line of the address may show up but the city, state and zip code may not appear. I am very pleased with my Garmin and look forward to buying their products in the future.Customer Review: Very easy to access/update if you have a myGarmin account

I already had a MyGarmin account so the process of loading the product key in was very easy. The download took about 90 mins. on high speed DSL. The map loading took another hour, so don't plan on doing this the night before leaving on vacation. There were no hiccups in the transfer or map update process.
NOTE: I chose Free Super Saver Shipping and it took the USPS 18 days to deliver it. Don't use this method if you have any kind of deadline.
Remember, the MyGarmin account is free as are the software updates. Garmin does support their products and your GPS will work better with newer software.

I purchased my lifetime map card from Amazon, and boy was it worth the money. Not only did I save over $30 off of the list price at the Garmin website, the card was shipped immediately, and the setup and loading of the maps was a piece of cake. The entire process took no more than five minutes and my GPS now reflects changes that have been made since I purchased the device. The only thing you might need to do prior to being able to download your maps is to register your GPS with Garmin, once they have all of the needed information, the site interfaces with your GPS and downloads the newly updated maps.Customer Review: If you plan on updating your garmin more than once--this is worth it

The price of a single update is quite high in comparison to the price of this lifetime update. This will pay for itself if you plan on doing 2 or more updates to your garmin unit. This is the same thing as sold on the garmin website--genuine product. You won't have any problem using it. Generally, it is cheaper here on amazon than on the garmin website.
This updates the map and points of interest. And remember that you can only update the maps that are already on your garmin (meaning you can't get a lifetime europe update if you only have north america on your unit).

I bought this lifetime map update service because my maps were 3 years old and I was planning to update my maps soon anyway. For $25.00 more than the one time update, Amazon was selling the lifetime update that includes up to 4 updates per year for the life of your Nuvi. What you get is a plastic card similar to a credit card that has a activation code on the back and a url where you can activate the card and download the maps. Your Nuvi must be connected to the computer and the whole process takes several hours to complete but when finished, you will have the latest maps on your Nuvi.
