Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin eTrex Handlebar Mount BracketCustomer Review: Works well for road/trail biking Summary: 5 Stars
I am a bicycle commuter and ride almost exclusively on roads and paved trails. This bike mount works great for that! I can't tell how it would hold up in the vibrations of off-roading, but this week I took a nasty spill on an ice patch, the bike went flying - and the eTrex stayed firmly connected to the bike through all that.
I am using it with a eTrex Venture HC, using the screw-on clip that came with the GPSr (the battery cover that comes with this handlebar mount does not fit the Venture HC). Works like a charm!
Customer Review: GREAT Summary: 5 Stars
I actually purchased this item hoping it would mount on my MOTORCYCLE - and it does. So I'm very happy with the product. As mentioned before, it does require you to replace the back with a plastic backing that allows it to snap into the bracket. I too would be more happy if the sturdy rubber ORIGINAL backing was capable of mounting on these garmin accessories (such as the windshield mount also...). But this bracket works for my bike and that's exactly what I needed for Geocaching - to read my GPS unit while moving.
Customer Review: Works Great on 2006 Chevrolet Silverado/ Suburban!! Summary: 5 Stars
FYI.
I'm buying a second one for my ATV, because this thing works so well on the Automatic Transmission Shifter on the Chevy! The screen on the ETREX is very small, but in this position, it's clearly visible to the driver (only when stopped of course). Unit can be stowed away when stopped, and quickly snapped into place on the shifter when driving. As mentioned, there's no need for the back replacement if you have the New style with the add-on clip. I've got a Legend CX.
Customer Review: many other uses besides bikes Summary: 5 Stars
I actually use this in my 98 Caravan. The gear shift is on the steering column, as is the case with many vans or pick-ups. When the shifter is in "D", it puts the GPS at the perfect location both for visiblity and ease of use. I think an actual dash mount would make it too hard to read or use. Also, don't forget to check out the auto power adapter. When you run the eTrex on external power, you can keep the light on all the time. This is great when you are driving at night.
Customer Review: Put your GPS on your bike! Summary: 5 Stars
Sure, these little pieces of plastic should be $2., but buy 1 or 2 and put them on your bikes. The Garmin units make very good bike computers and they work very well in the sticks, even in thick woods. The mounts are simple and adaptable to road and mtn bikes (i have them on both). They hold the eTrex firmly and yet you can remove the GPS easily. Stop buying bike computers and get more life out of your GPS. I am glad i did.
