As a biker and geocacher, I really appreciate the way this adapter lets me mount my eTrex Venture on my bicycle, then easily remove it and take it hiking with me. And as an engineer, I really appreciate the cleverness and simplicity of the design. It seems like it should work well with many different handlebars and riding positions. I've been using it for 3 years now, putting several hundred miles on it, and it's been just great!
Update November, 2008: I just moved the adapter from my old Raleigh 12-speed with a straight 1" handlebar to my brand new Raleigh Supercourse 18-speed with a tapered 1"+ handlebar and it still works great. On my old bike I needed a thin piece of rubber to make it fit. On the new bike it fits without the rubber piece. Still highly recommended!

I've owned a Garmin e-trex Legend for years, but recently wanted to mount it to my bicycle. This mount was quickly and easily fixed to the handle bar. The quick-release of the GPS is handy, allowing me to remove and re-attach the GPS. This was certainly worth the purchase!
UPDATE: After a few weeks of using this I've noticed a small problem - though I am not certain if it is the mount or not.
If I travel over very bouncy surfaces, or drop over curbs with this on my bike, the GPS will occasionally shut off. I suspect that the batteries are somehow disengaging, though I am not certain. I do not know if this problem is related to the mount, or something else, but I thought I'd add it to my comments...

I used this mount with the Garmin eTrex Venture HC, the back cover fits securely onto the unit, although you will notice it is slightly narrower than the original cover. The handlebar attachment comes with two rubber pieces I used the thinner one due to the thickness of my handlebars but the larger piece will accommodate a thinner handlebar. I noticed another reviewer mentioned it did not hold the gps in place. One thing you have to be aware of is that the tab on the back cover clicks into place once you slide it onto the handlebar mount. I took it out last night on a rough downhill trail and the gps stayed in place. If you have the eTrex Venture HC this is the mount you need.Customer Review: Read Before you Buy

If you have an HCx, the box will contain a clip that screws onto the original cover. This attaches to the handlebar Mount Bracket.
If you don't have the clip by now you have found that the cover provided does not fit the card slot. If you have the time you can make it fit. Not being able to locate any product that would fit and badly wanting my GPS on the Handlebar I took a file and sandpaper, yes it takes some time (do it while you watch TV) and it probably won't be waterproof. But if you sand/file down the inside of the case until there is only a thin wall and back cover where the card slot protrudes it will fit.

Mounted on Suzuki SV650 handle bar. Fit perfectly between handlebar risers (see pics). Good quality, fit like it came from the factory. So far it's holding up like a champ. Especially for $12 and change...hard to beat.
This product is great, but the actual Vista GPS I have....I had a similar problem that was already discused in a previous review, with the random shut offs. I solved it the same way with a couple pieces of foam. My Vista unit was actually doing this all the time (in cars, in hand, layin in tank bag on ATV or motorcycle...etc)not just on the bike. Works great now.
