Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Garmin MapSource 2008 Topographical U.S. Map DVD-RomCustomer Review: Happy with my etrex Vista Summary: 5 Stars
Garmin eTrex Vista HCx Color High-Sensitivity Mapping Handheld GPS
My third hand-held Garmin, the etrex Vista HCx is the best one yet. I use it for hiking, driving, trip data logging and geochaching. A real man-toy. Very sensitive, keeps accurate track under the heaviest of tree cover and even when it is carried in an inside parka pocket. So sensitive, in fact, that it can geo-locate itself when turned on inside my home. With its optional, 1 GB, microSD card installed I can store nearly the world of available Topo maps. Ready to use just moments after turn on, gets good battery life and interfaces with my three different PCs without a single problem. Besides the four main pages there are nearly 20 other pages that can be utilized making it a real Techno-geek's must have personal navigator.

Garmin MapSource Topo U.S. 2008
I use the MapSourc to build maps of the area that i ride my ATV. I have the Data in my Garmon GPSmap 60CSx and my computers.
What is nice aboout it is that i can enter information into my GPS and then download it and then print a map.
An example would be one of the locations I ride in Montana. The ride tops out at a little under 10,000 feet, I can mark the locations of gold mines from the mid 1800s, where the snow is at in July and were to camp. Well worth the money.
Customer Review: Better than expected- but lots of data for small screen Summary: 5 Stars
From the reviews, I was prepared that this might be an inferior product. But, to my pleasant surprise it works great. The scale is obviously not what you would get on a quad map but that would be a waste on a small screen gps. The software that loads onto the main computer works wonderfully and has some very interesting locations on it that are not shown on other maps. Local historians are using some of the data now doing research on some sites. If my gps had an 11" screen, I would like to have 1:24000 scale quads, but for the gps, this is great! Got a great price on it also.
Customer Review: My 1st TOPO Experience Summary: 5 Stars
We just purchased the TOPO U.S. 2008 DVD and it was easy to install and even easier to navigate the maps we needed. We live in Hawaii and my husband recently purchased the Garmin Astro with Dog Collars and he has been enjoying the product very much. When we purchased the DVD it did exactly what he had hoped for, it gave him great detail and he was able to come home and review all he did on our computer. A perfect pair...I'm excited because the next family trip we take to the States I know we won't need a map and we'll spend no time getting lost!!!!
Customer Review: Upgrade Now Summary: 5 Stars
This is what the topo software should have been to start. Garmin has updated the topo to properly match the USGS maps. When you are hiking or similar the topography properly represents the actual terrain. A major difference is areas that have significant elevation gain were always improperly represented in the old product. The 2008 version is correct now and you can see ridge lines and valleys as they should be. This was well worth the $ spent and I highly advise that you upgrade today!
