Not only did Amazon have a competative price but the company was able to deliver the product within 3 days, 4-7 days faster than expected.
The 76CSX itself is a great tool for Navigational purposes and can be used to chart courses in the comfort of your home via your computer. You simply then transfer the data to the handheld then to you onboard NEMA compatible chartplotter.
My only complaint with the device is that the directions for data transfers via the NEMA device (cable)is not at all decriptive enough. Garmin's website helps a bit more.

For the low price I paid for the Garmin GPSMap 76CSx thru Amazon, I fully expected it to be a refurbished unit. Appeared to be brand new from the packaging. Truely phenomenal device. Does everything except talk to me (and maybe I just haven't figured that part out yet). Have been using another Garmin handheld for about the past ten years... reliable, but a dinosaur compared to the technology in this one. Can't say enough good things about this. I use to have older verion of GPSMap 76S too. I have been happy with that device too. I use my device both in sea and in forest. Issue with old version in forest was short-time of using device with battery power. You cannot have satelite receiving on all the time while batteries are finished in few hours. But with 76CSx this all changed. I was up in mountains hunting 5 days and I had satelite receiving on at least 25 hours without any problems(lithium batteries)! I am replacing a GPSmap 76CS with the X series version. I love it. With a 1 Gig chip in it I easily fit all the maps required for a recent trip from Washington DC to Milwaukee. With the new electronics, it comes up a lot quicker and stays locked on in places where my old one would not. Another nice new feature is receiving power through the USB connection so it does not use the battery when connected to the computer. All in all a great unit.

We haven't been able to use it enough for all of the components to work, but are very happy with what we have used at this point. One thing that I think could be of use is the backlight coming on in the dark when you push a button. There is only a 1-2 minute setting or on all of the time which runs the batteries down faster. We have used this on the Sea of Cortez for the marine functions and also on land for the route home. Glad we purchased this specific gps!
