After paying the price with the suction-cup attachments for a few years... I welcomed a change. This little device is worth every penny. My Garmin c340 stays put on my dashboard with no glue, Velcro or tape. You just place it on the dash and the weighted rubber pads use weight distribution to keep it in place. You could obviously slam your gas pedal to the floor and it will scoot forward an inch or two, but under normal realistic conditions it does not move. I love that I can take the whole thing (GPS & mount) with me inside rather than having to struggle snapping it off my windshield and leaving unsightly rings behind.
Thieves are now breaking into cars based on those rings because they know that a GPS will be waiting there most of the time. I read that on MSN a few days ago. This mount prevents that and does an amazing job! No suction rings on the windshield and no glue/tape mess on the dash.
I highly recommend this product.

I bought this because my suction based holder was getting loose, it would fall a couple of times every trip.
This unit works just fine. You basically mount the GPS onto this stand, and just keep the stand where ever you want in front. It's heavy and has this friction/sticky pads on the bottom which prevent it from moving around. It slides a little with time, so after a few hours, or once in a while you might just have to push it back to its original position - That is totally fine, not an issue at all.
It makes gps much more accessible to the driver, specially because the suction thing you couldn't control the actual position of the GPS very well. But this one you can just keep anywhere and it works. Also, much more safe because if suction one falls in the middle of driving, you better not try to fix it while driving. This one has no such issues.
Good product, reasonably priced.

This is an absolutely essential accessory for your Garmin c-series GPS, for two reasons.
First, the windshield suction cup mount supplied with the GPS isn't as reliable as you might think and hope. It will grip tightly, but at completely unpredictable times, it will suddenly release, dumping your GPS onto the floor. When that happens, you'll grab for it, and the results of doing that at highway speeds could be catastrophic. I think this might be caused by changes in the temperature of the windshield as you drive into and out of the sun, turn the heat up and down, etc.
Second, in some states, it's illegal to obscure the windshield with anything, and the ticket for doing so can be significant. Even if it's not illegal, it's not a good thing, and this mount solves that problem.
The mount is well-built, fits the GPS perfectly, and works exactly the way it's supposed to.

As you can see in the picture, the nav device mounts in the middle and there are three heavy rubber pads that extend from the center. This mount works great, with my Garmin c330, in my wife's Corolla because there is a flat dashboard to mount it on. It doen't work so great on the dashboard of my IS300, however, because there isn't much surface area on my dash. However, the mount works well enough that I can adjust and fit it into the dahboard cabinet where the factory nav device would have been.
This device provides a secure and stable mount that I feel comfortable leaving a $300 nav device on, without concern. It would be nice if I could figure out a neat way to run the cable to the 12v adapter, but I would have that problem with any OEM device I used. In California, it is illegal to mount this device on the windshield, but this is a good alternative.

This a great mount. I use it in addition to the window mount that came with the c330. The window mount stays in the car I mainly drive. I use the dashboard mount when I drive my other car and want to use the gps in it. The dashboard mount is easy to move from one car to another, and it stays put. I travel roads on that have 90 degree turns, and most of the time, I go through them at more than 40 mph. During the turns, the dashboard mount does not move. Fantastic!
I only wish the gps could sit lower in the dashboard mount. In the car I mainly drive, I adjusted my window mount so that the gps just touches the dashboard, so as to minimize blockage of my view. When using the dashboard mount the gps sits about an inch and a half above the dashboard, so it impedes my view slightly more. Otherwise, I think this is a great mount!
