This is a permanent solution to fix your navigator in your car. This is good till the life of your car. I have tried all different kinds of mounts but it all failed. I got this so my wife could use are Garmin GPS in her rental car. She travels every month by rental car and I wanted an extra mount she could take with her in the car. It works great and seems to work just as good as the expensive original manufacturer ones.
I recommend this to anyone.

I needed this after my Nuvi 660 Suction Cup Mount kept failing. This Automotive Mount mated perfectly to the Garmin Bean Bag and stabilized my Nuvi 660 just fine. An added advantage was it allows the Nuvi 660 to move closer for viewing. If you do not like a suction cup mount, this is the way to go.Customer Review: Nuvi 650 mounting system

This was the least expensive way to buy a replacement for the connector that the wire plugs into. You can't just buy that part alone, you have to buy it as a component of a whole kit. I bought both styles of Garmin mounts for my vehicles which are SUVs.
Both work great but I prefer the sand-bag style one. It's easy to move
around but stays put while driving on mountain roads. If you have the room on your dash, go for the sandbag!
