I love my Garmin Nuvi, but it didn't come with an adapter for charging it in the house - just a car charger. Twice I've taken it on vacation and ended up not renting a car, and thus, had to do without my Garmin. I checked out the Garmin site, and they only had the adapter I wanted as part of a kit- and I already had all the other stuff included in that kit. I spent a fair bit of time searching for Garmin AC chargers that worked well with the Garmin GPS units. There seem to be a lot of ones on the market that do not work well. I found this charger to be a quality item. I've had absolutely no difficulties with and it works exactly as one would want. I am using it on a Garmin Nuvi 255 3.5" GPS unit. I purchased it here on Amazon from this seller because of the highly rated reviews by buyers. I'm completely satisfied with this AC Garmin charger.

I'm curious why Garmin doesn't include this A/C power cable with the purchase of the device. To charge the device takes a WHOLE lot of driving if you don't have it. If you commute long distances maybe that's acceptable, but for short commutes it takes forever to charge the unit. I can't see owning a Garmin without having the A/C charger - & for those who travel outside the U.S. the universal adapter plugs are a handy thing to have. The Garmin power cord is a necessity for this product. Whether driving locally, long distance, biking or walking this is the only way to maintain a sure charge for this travel/mapping device. The car charger alone does not retain the memory of this GPS. Otherwise, it takes a long while for the Garmin to recharge if the battery is low. The external power cord should have been included in the original package. Without it I'd be lost......... (pun)Customer Review: Happy with purchase

It only took about 4 or 5 days for me to receive this product. The price was the lowest I could find anywhere. Before I purchase anything online I always check with Epinions and Reseller [] to check for feedback on prices and reviews on products.
The charger works well with my Garmin GPS device that I purchased for my wife for Xmas, but I feel this charger should have been included with the unit itself.
