We lost our original cable and tried a department store replacement that plugs directly into the mini-usb port. It worked fine for a while but after a time began to fit less securely. The result was that the Garmin would blink on and off while we were trying to use it. I think that this would always be a problem with that type of connector - they are just not made for in-car use.
This original connector snaps into the window mounting bracket securely and so should never have the problem that the after-market chargers do.

I was on vacation in the USA & highly dependent on my navigation unit.
I've had my old cable about 4 years now & had just loaned it to a friend who was holidaying in Europe.
Anyhow, it failed to charge my GPS & I was driving in the states for the first time.
I checked the amazon site & managed to find a genuine part at a very reasonable price.
I had it shipped to my vacation address & it rreached me in less than 2 days.

We have a Garmin Nuvi 660, and the part of that charger that goes into the lighter broke on the original one we purchased. So, we needed a replacement, and this one came up as fitting our model. We purchased it, got it right away (via overnight shipment), and we have used it many, many times. Perfect!
UPDATE: I'm pleased to add that we have had this charger for almost a year (11 months now), and it works perfectly and has not shown the least bit of wear and tear.

It worked like it was suppose to. It's not really Rocket Science. I'm using this cord while traveling so I don't have to remove my semi permanently mounted cord from my own car.
The cord is 6 ft long. It would be nice if it was a little longer because sometimes the windshield on some SUVs are lot further than 6 feet to the power outlet. 10 feet would be real nice.
This is an OEM replacement part.

This is what you MUST HAVE to make your Garmin Automotive Suction Cup Mount for Rino Series GPS (010-10860-00) work. This mount works on zumo series GPS. I use it on my zumo 450. I wish they hadn't discontinued the Garmin zumo 450, it's a great model GPS unit. This item combined with the mount mentioned above will let you use your zumo 450 in your auto when it's not being used on your motorcycle.
