As others have stated, the adapter is not designed well. Over time, the tension between the contacts and the plastic/rubber edging that holds the adapter in place degrades. Once the edging has bowed, pretty much nothing is going to maintain contact with the unit. Not a big deal, just buy another adapter and move on. Still a great GPS unit overall.
