Customer Review: Great microscope, runs well on Mac OS 10.6.6

I spent quite some time over the holidays looking for a cheap microscope. My primary use is looking at stamps -- and I'm a casual user. Hence, I did not want to spend a lot of money on this. My only other criteria was that it should run on a Mac. Having read some of the previous reviews of this item (and many other, more expensive microscopes) I was not quite sure if it would work with my Mac. However, at $40 it was low risk. Today, I received the microscope and I have just installed it and tested it on a few stamps. It works perfectly and I would not hesitate to recommend this to other people looking for a cheap microscope for their Mac.
The drivers are delivered on a regular size CD-ROM (as opposed to the mini that has been discussed in other reviews). The installation is drag and drop. The software coming with the microscope may not have the greatest interface and doesn't really utilize many of the Mac's great features, but it works! Also, I could get it to work with Apple's Photobooth.
The magnification is slightly difficult to manage, but it may become easier as I'm getting used to the microscope.
Bottom-line, if you are looking for a low-cost microscope that is easy to install and use for casual purposes on a Mac, look no further. This is it! At $40 you can't beat it.
