My little girl loves this thing . She is improving quickly in reading and has it completely figured out with only a couple of minutes of me looking at it to explain it to her. We hear it going off through out the day. I hope within a year she will out grow it and be reading on her own. She also likes to type in sentences and have the talking dictionary say it to people lol.
As for me I love it ! I used to be asked what this word is or that is .. every few minutes ...now that is rare.
She has been using it for a few weeks and it still looks to be in great shape (for the durability- she is a girl ... my boys may have busted it by now)

I bought this for my daughter, who has been slow to read, she is 7. It is a great product. She can read independantly and if she comes to a word she doesn't know she will type it in and the dictionary will say the word for her. We can also put in a list of words for her to learn and she can do games with those words and practice them. My three year old even learned how to type in his name! For the level she is at it is a great product. It is not a full Webster's dictonary and I didn't expect it to be. It does what I needed it to do. Tell her what the unknown word is she's reading, without me having to be with her every minute.Customer Review: My kid loves it

My kid goes to speach therapy. This helps him pronounce/practice words that are difficult for him.
In class he participates more because now he can pronounce more words, his homework is more enjoyable because he is able to search for new words.
Speach therapy is not only about being able to pronounce but also undestand the meaning of the words, if not then he is just memorizing the words without knowing the meaning of them.
The spell checker of word suggestion is good because now I can understand what he is trying to say, when it is too difficult for him to pronounce he looks it up.

I ordered this talking dictionary to keep in my teacher's bag as I travel throughout the school district. When a student asks me how to spell a word, I just hand him or her this dictionary. It's operation is intuitive to a second or third grader and older and they love it! The definitions are short and written for kids. It had a volume adjustment and corrections for phonetic spelling. They look forward to my arriving with the "cool dictionary." Great tool for teachers, substitute teachers and parents alike. I bought this for one of my sixth grade students who has an extensive vocabulary, but a difficult time with spelling. The spell checker is able to figure out the words he types in even though they are often missing sounds/letters that you hear in the word. I thought he might think the look of it was babyish, but he actually loves it. It is much easier than using a dictionary to look up every word and seems to be motivating for him to have a cool gadget to use during lessons.
