Great little camera. The ease of use is unbelievable! I bought this for my wife to video our boys, and within minutes she had it mastered. Obviously the quality isn't HD, but it is very decent. It blows away tape cameras from just 6-10 years ago. The transferring is very simple too. The software is simple and straight-forward, so anybody can use it with ease.
The only thing that did not go smooth was the installation of the software. Just by hooking the camera up to the USB port the software will launch and install the first time, then run every time after. I installed this on my laptop, all went well. When I tried it on my wife's laptop all that happened was the auto-run started with "open to view files" the only option. I just clicked the install and all went well then. From now on she has to click that every time to get the software to work. Oh well still works great!

The Flip is as small as My cell phone and takes great video. I was able to put it in My pocket and go. I was pleasantly surprised at how clear the videos came out.
The digital zoom is good but won't be as good as a digital camera or full sized video camera.
I was able to easily import, edit and use the movie file on My Mac laptop's IMovie program though you can also use the Flip's built in software to edit, take stills etc.
Mine runs on 2 AA batteries which lasted My entire vacation(3 days of recording).
If you are looking for a simple, low cost solution for video recording this is it. I was very impressed with this product and would recommend it to anyone for personal recording. There's no complicated controls to learn, turn it on, point and hit the record button. It's really just that easy.

I'm a mom of a 2.5 year-old and I carry this ipod-sized camcorder with me EVERYWHERE I go. It's so easy to pull out of my pocket and record anything and everything QUICKLY and EASILY, especially those unexpected "first" moments or "awww" moments you just wish you could have a video of but would never bother lugging around a bulky camcorder that requires special charging and lengthy setup. My favorite use right now is to film my toddler opening gifts from long-distance relatives so they can see his reaction and personal "thank you" (encouraged by mom). Anyhoo, the kicker is that you simply "flip" out the USB arm, plug it in to your computer, and in less than a minute you're emailing videos to family and friends. Yes it's that fast. I am so tickled with the Flip Ultra! It is truly a must-have for any mommy that has ever said, "Oh, I wish I had the video camera right now!" With the Flip, now you can have a high-quality video camera with you everywhere, all the time. It's small and light enough to go in your purse; I even carry it in my pocket when we go out so that I can whip it out at a moment's notice. It's also stylish, very easy to use, and the picture quality is outstanding. You will be so happy you have this!
Battery note: I always find it helpful when reviewers share their battery life experience, so here's mine. So far I have only used regular AA batteries, not rechargeable. A pair of Energizers lasted about an hour and 15 minutes - more than enough to fill the 60 minutes worth of memory before having to get fresh ones.
Customer Review: Great little portable cam for mac or pc

I'm using the Ultra. I've only used it a couple of times but it's very handy, portable, boots quickly. It seems to work just fine with my mac and most of the pcs I've used - the only exception being an older dell, but I suspect it was the computer not the flip. There is a bit of noise on deep blacks and very dark navy blue, but it's not really designed to rival a 3chip or anything. Definitely worth the price! It would be really cool if it would stream real-time and could be used as a webcam...maybe it can and I just haven't tried hard enough. I work with a bunch of real estate agents and this thing has generated a lot of interest and I think I've sold at least a half dozen of them on the flip; then those agents sell the other agents on it! I guess this would have had more impact as a video done from the flip...oh well.
