The more I use this camera the harder it becomes to put it down! Its purse friendly size makes it easy to take everywhere and leaves you never having to recapture an experaince with words alone. The first real event I took it to was a baby shower and all the moms went crazy over it. They thought it would be absolutely perfect for capturing all the milestones as well as funny moments in their children's lives because its small sizes makes it easy to tuck into a pocket and keep with you at all times which is necessary if you really are going to capture everything! The women had endless stories of things they wish they had on tape, but missed by the time they were able to run and grab their standard camera. Also it's incredibly easy to use which is a huge plus. While this would make the perfect gift for anyone, it is especially great for anyone with children. The only down side I have found to this camera is that depending on where the usb port is on the computer I am using it is not always convenient to connect, but I feel like that is a fairly minor flaw given how wonderful this camera is in general.Customer Review: Nice for the price

Cons: The snap shots you can capture from the video are sort of washed out color wise, when you prepare the video for email or uploading to youtube it loses a lot of quality, but it would be too large to use in those places otherwise.
I do wish someone would come up with a "hard case" for this so keeping it in a purse would be safer. It does come with a black velvet pouch to protect it from scratching, but a hard case would be nice.
Pros: For what you are paying this camera it is a fun easy way to take video. It is super simple to use and takes good video.
You can save higher quality video to your hard drive that looks pretty nice. It's fairly simple to upload short clips of video to a personal web space and create an html page that will play your higher quality video for friends and family.
The video editing software is easy to use and I have had no problems with it. I did download the new version of the software with no issues.
Over all if what you are looking for is cheap and easy, the flip video ultra is it.

I have been very impressed with the Flip Video. I'd not really thought about what I would use it for. However, I have a 16 year old dog. She is slowing down a lot, but occasionally on cooler days has a burst of energy. I got a nice video of her running circles in the yard like she did a lot as a puppy the other day. I think it will be a nice way to remember her.
I have failed to push the button to start recording hard enough when I am rushed, so be sure to check that the seconds are counting. I missed a prior opportunity with my dog running and a nice sequence with a rabbit who hides out in the woods in my backyard by not pushing hard enough. Very frustrating when you go to turn it off and it starts recording!
I am quite surprised at how good the videos are on the computer. I have not been able to get it to play on the TV screen so far which I am disappointed about, but on the TV it looks fine.

Customer Review: Simple? ...Yes!! ......But Beware

This is a great little inexpensive video camera that is WONDERFULLY simple to operate. I bought one last week and am very impressed with the video and audio quality. The of the picture and sound quality compares to the hulking VHS camcorder I was using in the late 1980s which was very good. My Flip video camera ran right out of the box with no problems. The instruction book can be read in 5 minutes and is very clear and simple. I love this little camera.
One word of advice though: People considering purchasing the Flip Video camera need to be certain that they, or the end user has solid basic knowledge of computers. I know this sounds obvious to most people, but there are people out there, particularly senior citizens who are attracted to the idea of simplicity, especially in regards to electronics yet they are not computer literate. They run out and buy items with the hope of enjoying them only to wind up with frustration due to a lack of computer skills. You don't need advanced skills, but a solid basic knowledge of installing software and file transfer is a must.

This is what 4-5 star reviews will say:
(1) Great quality video for the price.
(2) Sound is also pretty good.
(3) Very convenient size.
(4) Ease of use is through the roof.

As you can see, I align myself with the 4-5 star reviews. I was concerned about some of the issues people gave it bad reviews for, but I encountered none of them. It worked perfectly and as expected in every regard. And for that, I give it an A rating. For the price it is just really great. Now, I have not owned the cam for a long time yet, so I will have to edit this is issues come up. But for now, I fully endorse this little guy. It works well and easy, and exceeded even my pretty high expectations.
