I love it! We've been using this little camcorder for a few weeks now. It works great...it powers up in an instant, charges easy, and is so fun and easy to use. The videos transfer down to my computer quickly and easily.
Here's what I would have wanted to know before buying:
- The USB connector is a bit fragile. If you have kids, don't leave it plugged in to the computer when they're around. One little pull from tiny hands and it can break.
- The zoom is okay, but not tremendous. But hey, you're getting quite a lot in a tiny package, so I hope you would expect that beforehand.
- If your computer is not up-to-speed with lots of video memory, the videos will not play well and will peg your RAM. This is due to the HD quality, and not a problem with the camcorder. I saw lots of reviews complaining about this. If your computer is not pretty new, you may want to go with a Flip camcorder that is NOT HD, so that your computer can handle it.
Again, I love this camcorder! The videos transfer great, and I edit them in Adobe Premiere Elements 7. I have had no problems doing that, and they are then "exportable" into any format you need/want.

I had heard many good things re the Flip before buying it, but it has surpassed my expectations in every way. It is dead simple to use and has surprisingly good image quality. It's true that, because it is so light and small, it can be hard to hold it still while shooting. Also, while the lens does have a zoom, the widest angle is not very wide. But these are quibbles -- it works well and easily right out of the box. It is so small and light that it slips into your shirt pocket easily (smaller and lighter than my still camera!).
The most pleasant surprise about the flip is the absolutely stellar software that comes with it (ON the flip itself, no CD to install and auto installs to any computer you use it with). The software makes emailing and uploading (e.g. to YouTube) a snap. Best of all, the software has some basic editing functions that allow you to quickly and easily make movies, complete with titles, credits and musical soundtrack. This software is so simple that my 7 year old now makes her own movies and emails them to her grandmother.!!
This is a product that more than lives up to its hype. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.

The Flip MinoHD is a terrific device for those who want a straightforward, easy-to-use digital video camcorder without sacrificing the quality. In addition, the device looks incredibly sleek and fits easily into a pocket. I own a Sony HD camcorder as well, but it hasn't received much use due to its size, making it a burden to carry with me. I am looking forward to taking the device with me on ski trips and tucking it in my jacket pocket.
As far as quality is concerned: it definitely exceeded expectations given the price point and compact nature. I often hook the device directly to my widescreen LCD to share videos with friends, and, even at 40+ inches, the video looks pretty good.
In addition, I cannot overemphasize how easy this device is to use. All of the necessary functions can easily be performed with the 5 or so keys on the device, and all without digging into detailed menus.
I haven't played around with the software that much, so I cannot comment on that aspect of the product. However, it is incredibly easy once you plug in the device to quickly drag the videos to your desktop/hard drive for viewing.

Let me first say, I had the initial Flip last year that went kaput on me after 3 days of use. I was skeptical but figured they must of improved it. They seem to have done that. Not only is it a little smaller and lighter then the original but the HD is great, it works quicker and has some longevity to it. I have had it for a month now and have had no complaints. In fact, I got an IMAC and it works wonderful with the Mac. It is perfect to stick in your pocket or purse and have it for the moments you wished you had your camcorder. The only negative is the amount of time you can record. So I wouldn't recommend it for a vacation unless you have a laptop to upload the film as it gets to the 50 minute mark. My only other minor complaint is that I wish the strap was more like a camera's adjustable one then the plastic non-adjustable one Flip gives you. But that is so minor. I haven't been able to put the Mino HD down; appreciate all of the reviews but perplexed by some of the comments. First, the video quality is just outstanding, better than I had expected. I have sent the clips directly using the email feature and uploaded to YouTube - the quality does seem to diminish if uploaded to YouTube, but still incredible given the fact that this is a mini camcorder. I have a Mac and one of the concerns I had was about software compatibility - no problem. I should have take the time to read the very short instructions - but wasn't really necessary since everything was very intuitive. I was hoping the zoom feature would have been a bit better, but again, this is a mini camcorder so my expectations were realistic. This is a great, in your pocket, device -- although addictive! This is my first Flip so I cannot offer any opinion/comments as to how it compares to previous models but I would recommend this one. I've been having a blast and for the first time have been able to participate on YouTube - although I think my family is getting their fill of my clips!!
