The MinoHD arrived in excellent packaging (very similar to an iPhone) and included a carry strap, a video out cable, silky carry bag and simple instructions. It charges via its built in USB connector and looks like a USB drive containing whatever movie files you've taken when you plug it into a computer, making it pretty much platform independent
Fit and finish was good and the unit is very small and light. Controls were very simple with mechanical USB connector release, on/off and record buttons, and "touch" buttons that appear as backlit symbols for play/pause, next, previous etc.
The unit is very simple and intuitive. The video quality is excellent (smooth frame rate and crisp, clear frames even in low light). Audio was also very good. Everything from a couple of feet away to infinity is in clear focus. Because the unit is so small and light you have to take extra care to hold it steady unless you want your videos to make people seasick ;-)
The lens is relatively wide angle and there is no zoom so its best suited to close subjects. It seems to do well both indoors and out. While the lens is recessed well, it is missing an automatic lens cover common on many digital pocket camera's.
So for anyone looking for high quality HD video in a small, light, inexpensive package and does not require a zoom lens this is a terrific product.

I've had the original Flip for a long time - about a year, actually - and am well acquainted with the versatility of this small camcorder. When I received the new one I was surprised at how much slimmer it is from the original Flip. I guess the size was reduced by the onboard rechargeable battery; the original uses 2 AA batteries that have to be changed after a few hours of use.
It's super easy to use, but I'm having a bit of trouble with the buttons that operate the thing. Like an iPhone they are embedded in the unit and just need a touch to work, but I can't seem to get them to do what I want, when I want. I'm not blaming this on the camcorder - it's my fault for trying to use it the same as my older Flip and things are not the same.
I don't necessarily like the widescreen format on the view screen. Makes it harder to see what you're filming for someone who is older, like me.
Overall it does a great job, love the small size and the rechargeable battery.
Oh, before I forget - another great feature is the new Flip software that comes with it. The newer version makes editing videos and posting them anywhere (Youtube, etc.) much easier than the software that came with the older version.
Definitely love it, definitely using it - I recommend it highly.

I received the Flip MinoHD as a gift and I never thought I would have so much fun using a camcorder! I always thought of myself as more of a still picture person because I didn't want to be stuck filming behind a big bulky camcorder. But when I'm filming with the Flip it's so small that I almost forget I'm filming! And the Flip is so simple to use that I picked it up and was using it 5 minutes later, and I've been able to hand it off to lots of different people with different levels of tech savvy and they've all picked up operation of it with no trouble.
In addition to the ease of operation, the other advantage of the Flip is the great video quality from such a small camcorder. The video looks great on both a computer monitor and a full size TV (I've watched it on up to a 42 inch widescreen). I took the Flip on a recent trip to the theme parks in Florida, and I filmed everything from rides to fireworks, and it all looks great. And the video is so easy to share--just plug the Flip into a computer and share--that it makes it easy to share everyday events with friends and family.
My only complaint with the Flip is that it only takes 60 minutes of video at a time. But it's not a big negative for me compared with all of the great features of the Flip.
I would definitely recommend the Flip to anyone looking for an easy to use, compact camcorder. It's a great addition to my memory capturing toolkit, and gives me a reason to take great video everyday.

The quality is amazing on this tiny video camera! I've only watched it on my computer and uploaded to You Tube and Facebook, but it looks great. I have a Mac laptop -- all I had to do was plug it into the USB port and it was recognized as a drive. I opened the folder and viewed each clip and then easily uploaded it online (I didn't use the included software to upload, I did a direct file upload).
I haven't used the editing software yet, but I'm just blown away by the quality... and from something so small! I own the Canon Vixia HF10 HD Camcorder which is 4 times the price. The Flip is much easier for uploading online for sharing. I'm sure I'd notice a difference in quality if I was burning to a DVD or watching on TV, but I didn't notice a huge difference on the computer.
The only drawbacks to the small size is that it can make it harder to hold the camera still and the LCD screen is tiny, making it hard to see what you're recording at times. You'll see a lot of shaking in the video if you're not careful, particularly when you're using the zoom. But you'll find yourself taking lots more video since it's so portable.
You can also get a custom photo or design on the face of the camcorder if you order from Cafepress or direct from the Flip web site.
Bottom line: The Flip's small size makes it easy to take videos on the fly anywhere you go. The picture quality is great and it's amazingly easy to upload.

I have the regular flip camera and thought it was a great tool to capture those moments on the go because of it's compact & useful nature. BUT now that I have tried the HD MINO Flip I am REALLY impressed. This little machine is far superior to the regular counterpart and is an ExCellent investment. The size is a bit smaller than the first flip, it's sleek & slyish buttons & screen are to be desired. The picture quality is VERY crisp & clear and we have no complaints about the audio.
Given the HD clarity, you do notice more any slight of hand with a shake so I would recommend a tripod if you are going to video for any length of time, like a recital or event. The regular flip came with the AA battery case, where you could either use rechargable batteries or use regular AA. Easy enough when the battery gets low. The one thing this little guy has is a sealed battery compartment which requires you to charge it through your computer or laptop.
If you are considering the Flip as a really convienant and easy way to capture those on the go moments, I HIGHLY recommend the HD flip camera. It is far superior, captures an excellent picture and is a seriously amazing little machine.
