Customer Review: Small. . .Simple. . . .
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
There's a lot to like about this little camcorder. It must be the smallest HD camcorder on the market. It's very simple to operate. . . . The quality is great. . . there's not really that much on the "negative" side, but I would like to note a couple of things that would be great if they would change:
1.It would be great if you could add a mini SD card for additional storage. When you're traveling, if you don't have your laptop with you, you're not going to be able to transfer what you've already shot so that you can record some more. It would be a BIG plus if they would add this.
2.You can't replace the battery. If they made it where you could have removable memory and batteries, then you could record endlessly.
3.This is more of an "observation" than complaint, but though it's great that the USB plus pops-up and so you can plug it right into your computer or USB hub. . . . you might want to invest in a cord simply because if something were to happen and something were to hit the MinoHD it could easily damage it.
4.Also, I must say that trying to use the small viewer on the back takes some getting used to. I never feel like I have it just right because it's simply not easy to tell what you're recording. This is simply something you have to live with though, and the price you pay to have such a small device.

It's a great little gadget. Like with a lot of electronics, you have to decide if you want to buy now, and start having some fun. . . or. . . wait around and see if the price drops and if they change it so that you can add memory cards.

Customer Review: The Best Things Come in Small Pacages!
Summary: 5 Stars

The best things come in small packages and Flip Video is no exception!
Since there are a lot of other reviews already, here's a quick rundown:

Size : The camera is very thin. Ideal for a purse or pocket.

Display: The 1.5" display size may sound small, but pictures are actually very sharp and clear.

Controls : Very easy to use. We've had a lot of fun sharing this with friends and family members. Making fun videos is very simple with this camera.

Video Quality : Very good. Maybe not as good as a larger, more expensive camera though. The auto-focus works well, but you do have to hold the camera somewhat still. It does a good job and I'm pleased with the quality. To improve your videos, try http://www.amazon.com/Flip-Tripod-Ultra-Mino-Camcorders/dp/B000VJRUKS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1231606698&sr=8-4 to stabilize them a bit. For, the casual video creator though, you can't beat the quality for the price.

Lighting : We got better quality outside on a sunny day than we did inside in a slightly darkened house or at night. In really low light, the colors were a little off, but we had fun with that too.

Versatility : You can transfer the videos to your computer or watch them on TV. Very nice.

Zoom : You can zoom 2X. Not too flexible, any zoom is better than none.

Compatibility : I had no problems downloading videos on my Vista laptop or on my friend's MAC. Even she was impressed.

Overall, this is a fun, little camera very well made. I like to keep it in my purse when I take the kids to the zoo or on a family outing. We get cool videos without having to carry a large camera.

Customer Review: Ideal for Video Blogging
Summary: 5 Stars

I used this camera for a daily video blog on my first tour as a singer-songwriter (hiramring.com) - you can check out the footage of the 68-day trip on my YouTube site: http://www.youtube.com/ringrecords

I find I can record about 50 min of video (all that the camera will hold), then dump it off onto the computer and record another 45 minutes before the battery dies. It takes about an hour to fully recharge, and the only way to recharge it (or get video off) is to connect via USB to the computer.

The light sensors are really good, so even in low-light situations it gets a very natural picture (the tripod is useful to keep it in one place so the sensors don't have to do too much adjusting), and I find the sound quality to be decent as well. You can check out my latest YouTube video of my friend Matt playing jazz in a local club to see what I mean.

It also comes with handy video-editing software that loads from the camera (which is why it only fits 50 min of video rather than 60) and allows you to select the length of the clip you want. If you want to create several clips from the same piece of footage, you have to copy and paste the clip and select different spots within the original before creating a movie with the selected clips. So that part is pretty limited, but you can always drag the clips into another editor if you want.

As far as I can tell, though these are the only drawbacks: needs a USB computer port for both getting the footage off and re-charging, and doesn't take pictures at all (you can take a screenshot from the video using the editing software, but the quality is not great). It's been a great little gadget for me, though! =)

Customer Review: It's perfect for what it is and what it does!

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I'd expect like most people who would use a Flip Mino, I'm not a professional videographer. I use a device like this on family occasions, or to have in my car for the odd event that begs for a youtube upload.

For what it is, and what it does, the Flip Mino is a great little video camera. It has a zero learning curve - even if you never, ever held a video camera in your life, I guarantee you'll be up and shooting with this in minutes.

And the resolution is pretty mind-boggling, for the ease and size of this camera. I shot a little backyard snippet of my dog doing cute dog things, and within minutes I was editing and viewing the footage on my Macbook (I should mention this camera is particularly wonderful with a Mac.)

It's lightweight, yet doesn't feel cheap - it's almost like an expensive jewel-like compact. Fits nicely in a small purse (or a glove compartment, if you don't want to miss taking pix of a fender bender.)

If you want an easy to use camera for family moments, one that won't drive you insane trying to figure out how to work it or how to offload the video, this is the camera you want. There may be better cameras out there for the pros, or for folks who want to spend a few years fiddling around with a manual, but if you're like me and want a camera that documents your life instead of running your life until you figure it out, the Flip Mino is for you. Highly recommend.

Customer Review: An Excellent Stocking Stuffer for the Videographer on Your List
Summary: 5 Stars

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I really, really liked the original Flip Video Mino camcorder. It's sleek, small design, ease of use and handsome presentation made it a perfect gift for that special occasion. Now I've had some hands on experience with the Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder and urge this as excellent little stocking stuffer. In fact, this would be the perfect gift to open the night before Christmas to catch those great moments connected to playing Santa-- the ones involving parts that don't fit together and packaging that it would take a blow torch to cut open and Santa losing his cool. Those special memories.

While it holds about 60 minutes of video on the built-in 4 gig of memory-- if I had to change anything about this camera I would add an option to slot in a memory card--you won't be shooting War and Peace with it. There's more than enough memory to shoot some great moments here, video to send to friends and loved ones who can't be sharing Christmas this year, a video Holiday card to be uploaded to email or shared on Youtube.

The video playback screen is sharp and crisp. It comes with a television connector but the real friend of the Fip Video MinoHD is the computer. Plug it up with the build in USB adapter to charge it. It also has built in software that aids you in sharing and saving your video. It's very easy for even the inexperienced to use this intuitive camcorder.
