How many times do you lose the perfect video moment while you are trying to unzip the camcorder bag or check the battery or tape? Been there, done that!! Plus who wants to lug around a huge big deal for quick 30 - 90 sec shots? The days of making huge productions out of family moments are long gone with this thing. Pop the Flip out of your front pants pocket and 2 seconds later you are ready for action. I took the Mino with me on our trip to Yellowstone and never missed a shot. Old Faithful, was caught in all its glory. I took over 60 small 30 sec to 2 minutes family vids that the family will enjoy as long as YouTube keeps running. The enclosed USB cable is such a great idea. The built in flash drive holds 60 minutes of video and the rechargeable batteries never let me down. Plug the unit into a USB port and the on board software starts and I'm working on videos in seconds...all awhile the batteries are recharging and ready to rock and roll once I'm done. Needless to say I'm super pleased with this. Don't get this is you are looking to do far away shots as the zoom isn't really that great. BUT for what it does..it does well. I am not very handy when it comes to electronics. It takes me a while to get used to using new devices, and I often become frustrated with the first few uses. However, the Flip Mino is awesome! Charge it and it's ready to use. It really is that simple. 60 minutes is plenty for just about anything I'd want to record, and the picture and sound quality is surprisingly good for such a small gadget. The software is intuitive and easy to use, although I admit that I have not yet taken the plunge into editing any of my videos.
This unit is as small or smaller than my cellphone, making it so easy to carry anywhere. It doesn't work well in darker environments, but that's not unexpected and is not a drawback, in my opinion. I've been using this for several months now and it's still going strong with no problems.
Great gadget that works as promised and is easy to use - love it!

We were trying to decide what camcorder to buy before we had our first baby. We looked at everything and decided on the Flip Mino (they didn't have the HD version then). It was THE BEST decision we ever made! We have taken over 200 videos of our 7 month old using it. It is so portable, small and easy to "flip" out and use unassumingly. You don't feel like one of those annoying parents trying to capture every moment by taking out a big camcorder.....this is so small and cool it feels more like taking a video with your phone and is less intrusive.
It takes nice short videos (which lets face it....who really wants to see long baby videos....short and sweet is better!) that upload seemlessly to YouTube! Our baby has her own channel that all our relatives can watch long distance and know all she is up to.
The interface is easy for anyone to use with a PC (not sure if it works with Mac). Just connect with USB and the software is in the camera! Even updates the software online when needed automatically.
I recommend this HIGHLY for anyone wanting to take short, web ready videos on the fly.

The Flip Mino is brilliantly simple. I've had a couple of camcorders which are big, complicated, fragile, and eventually break. The Mino is small, simple, sturdy with no moving parts. If you're looking for something easy to use to take high quality home videos, you've found it.
It recharges over the USB connector when you plug it into your Mac/PC. It seems to have way more charge than needed to take 60 minutes of video, so it might just end up being fully charged all the time (unlike my camcorders which were never ready to go). And I prefer the rechargeable over replaceable batteries that just end up in landfills.
The video quality of the compression software was also good, though the compressor itself took a long time. In all fairness, this is probably because I have an old slow G4 Mac -- time to upgrade. And you can easily grab the raw .avi files right off of the camera if you want to work with uncompressed files.
