True, if your textbooks are incredibly thick (over 1.5 inches) or heavy, this isn't what you're looking for. But if you're a student/professor who likes to study at the coffee shop, you can't beat this. It folds, so it can become as thin as a book and fits nicely against other books in a bookbag. Great for holding books open while you're reading. I find myself using this contraption quite frequently when I'm copying direct quotations from books; eliminates one-handed typing or books on laps. I found out about this Study Stand from the Apple weblog The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW-[...]). I was looking for an inexpensive device to prop my iPad up on my desk and table. This does the job perfectly, and much cheaper than the official Apple iPad Dock ($29). Though it does not have the 30 pin connector like the official dock this does the job if you are using the Apple Wireless Keyboard (Retail Packaging). I picked this up on another site for $[...] and it is well worth the price.Customer Review: Great stand for the money!

For the money, this handy device does just what you would expect. I use it to stand up large(1000+ page)text books and it works great. Takes a little adjustment to balance it but once you get the hang of it it holds the book steady on a flat surface. It folds for easy storage or travel. The only drawback is sometimes it's difficult to readjust to another chapter without removing the book from the stand. As a bonus, my 12-year old son seems to love to play with it and he has yet to break it!Customer Review: Will never be without my book stand again!

I love my book stand/holder and I'll never be without one again!
I use it for all my reading, including my cook book. The book stand/holder has solved the problem I had with my neck getting sore and getting knots under my arms from holding my books. I was constantly trying to find a comfortable position for reading. Problem solved!!! Now I sit comfortably at the table, or on the sofa with a TV tray, and read to my hearts content. A must have for people who love to read!

I needed a stand to hold books while typing notes/quotes into the computer when writing papers. This stand does the job. The legs/page holders are adjustable so that it can accomodate different size books. It is great, especially for the price. It works to hold books while eating - which is great for students. It is compact and easily folds. I bought one for my desk at home, one for my backpack to keep with me at school and one for a friend (she loves it too!).
