This is my first shredder. I had a hard time choosing between Fellowes' Intellishred PS-79Ci and MS-450Ci Micro-Cut. After I placed the order for the first one, it was out of stock. So I purchased MS-450Ci Micro-Cut instead. Now I realize shred size is the most important feature for me, afterall, that is the reason to buy a shredder. I am happy I did not buy the less secure cross-cut PS-79Ci.
This shreddler has compact size (21.44 inches H x 15.34 inches W x 10.81, smaller than the Intellishred PS-79Ci), elegant design (unlike some other shredders which look like garbage bins), and lots of nice features. Don't be scared by the 8-10 minutes continuous run time. I used it to shred mails, I open envelop and take a quick look if the mail needs to be shredded, that little break in between allows the shredder to run for hours without any problem. The sheet capacity is 7, but 7 sheets get passed only occationaly, 6 sheets get passed almost all the time. Although sheet capacity is much lower than the Intellishred PS-79Ci (13 sheets), this is not a big concern because I only have two boxes of mail to shred each year. Also, I can put two mails side by side and shred them in one pass. I like the Jam Proof features, it corrects itself during the shred (pause 3 seconds). The bin capacity is about right (although 4.8 gallon is smaller than the PS-79Ci's 6 gallon, but consider micro-cut takes less space than cross cut. I read lots of complaint on bin size for PS-79Ci, but so far I did not see complaint on the bin size of the MS-450Ci), my two boxes of mails and hundreds of credit cards fill up the bin twice, and I used up the oil that comes with the shredder (very small bottle). The only thing I do not like this shredder is the bin and the wall may have some little gaps, after shredding and taking out the bin, the small pieces of shred are all around the wall of the shredder. I did not put bag inside, I don't know if putting the bag will make any difference.
