The shredder itself seems really sturdy, the blades are pretty solid and thick unlike some other shredders I've seen that have thin and flimsy blades that bend easily. I don't anticipate these bending anytime soon. The motor seems strong for the most part I stuck a couple of credit cards through to test it and it chewed through them like a champ I couldn't even make it out from the rest of the shredded paper. The bin could have been slightly bigger. It's not the quietest shredder by any means. It has a nice flip up feature so you can empty the basket w/o having to take off the motor (just flip it up). The sensor feature that shuts off the motor when an object gets too close to the blades works like a charm. So far so good!!

For the price tag, this is the best value I have found. It doesn't really shred 8 pages at a time (unless it is super thin paper like credit card receipts or the like). But, the capacity more than makes up for it!! I have a tremendous amount of shredables (probably > 200 bags worth!) because I have been going through the cheap shredders like crazy. I admit I had my doubts, I'm one that thought the more expensive shredders were just bigger and more expensive versions of the smaller crappy models. But I am finally getting rid of this mountain of shredables thanks to this shredder. I shred between 1-2 bags a day (well over the 160 page-per-day it advertises) and have NO PROBLEMS! The value has already surpassed its purchase price!Customer Review: great value

You will not go wrong if you read a good sampling of the other reviews here. I would add this clarification which I didn't find in the reviews: several people mentioned the difficulty emptying the shredder. I find that is becuse it is kind of tricky to seat the top properly into the hinges on the bucket where it sits. It is getting easier with practice. This is irritating, but given the overall properties of this shredder it is OK with me since this item is a huge value for the cost. I found in reading reviews that many people don't understand the limitations of shredders for home use. You DO need to limit the number of sheets and make sure you don't exceed the appropriate times (you can burn the motor out otherwise.)Customer Review: Good Shredder for Home

This is the fourth shredder I've purchased for home use and the best one yet. I use the shredded remains for mulching around my backyard shrubs and trees so I need something that will handle multiple sheets without complaining. This one does the trick and will shred staples and credit cards and everything in between. I accidentally put some junk mail through that had a nickel inside and while the shredder wasn't able to cut the thicker coin neither did it break anything. After removing the mangled coin the shredder still functioned perfectly. The unit is a little noisy but that is a small price to pay for the easy way it seems to handle everything I need to shred. This paper shredder is wonderful. It works really well. I generally put around 5 sheets in at a time and do not have any problems. I love the SafeSense. I have a cat and I didnt want her nails to get trimmed if she decided to be playful while i was using the shredder or if i forgot to turn it off. While I did not use my cats paw to check if the SafeSense works, i did put my finger very close to the region were the blades are, the machine quickly stopped and did not start shredding until my finger was no longer touching that region. The product also arrived in two days after I ordered it!!!!!! To sum it up, I am very happy with this product and would highly recommend it!
