Maybe there were problems in the past with this shredder, I can't say if there has been any modifications to it. I was leary buying this because of some of the negative reviews but it turns out none of negative reviews appear to be valid any longer. The wheels were a snap putting on (literally 30-45 seconds to do) and the bin closes snuggly and the tab appears to be strong. In a nut shell... I couldn't expect more from a shredder. There were also complaints as how to oil the blades but Fellowes website explains it. This thing chews up CDs and credit cards like there paper and it can shred the number of pages they claim. If you're thinking about buying this shredder... just do it... you'll be happy you did!Customer Review: Best Shredder I have ever owned!

Finally a shredder that can handle the tons of "junk mail" that I get on a daily basis without jamming or overheating. I love how it automatically adjust to the size of the item being destroyed thus avoiding any jamming problems. It has a large bin and is easy to move around thanks to the casters that come with the unit. The 99Ci is quiet during operation and can consume a fairly thick piece of mail without getting stuck. After years of disappointment, I thought I would never find a shredder that would have all of these features but the 99Ci fits the bill. Forget about that junk they sell a STAPLES; this unit is well worth the extra money!Customer Review: Better than expected

I bought this for a small office after returning a Staples brand shredder. So far this machine is great. I was worried that with 2 power buttons I would have to touch it first every time I wanted to shred like the Staples version, but that is not the case. Staples machine also had an annoying delay from when you put the paper in until it started shredding. This shredder had NONE of those annoying features. And this machine is much more quiet than other shredders. Co-workers tend to come shred by my desk while I am on the phone making it impossible to hear, but not so bad with this shredder. Definitely would purchase again.

My old noisy shredder stopped working in our home office. I researched the new ones with the idea of getting something with a larger capacity and hopefully much quieter. Although this model Fellowes was more than I wanted to spend, I wanted to buy a good quality machine that would last, so I plunked down the cash. Well the machine came and not only does it shred paper well, it is a champ at credit cards and dvd's as well. But even better, it is incredibly quiet. You couldn't use the phone when our other shredder was on because of the sound. Well I still figured it would make some noise but it is far far quieter than I expected.Customer Review: I didn't beleive it...

Having used shredders for years, I am very adept at jamming them. I didn't believe that this shredder would not jam, but it is true. You have to work hard to trick the sensor to cause it indigestion. Even then, it will usually clear it automatically. The Safesense safety feature is awesome and the design is high tech.
It is more expensive than a lot of shredders out there but if quality and safety are important to you, it is worth it.
Only negative so far is the wheels are difficult to put on. I ended up leaving them off since I don't intend to move it around.
