I'm quite pleased with these earplugs. I purchased them because I have tinnitus and when I'm in a loud environment, the noise makes the tinnitus worse. I tried these out in a very loud restaurant and not only could I hear my husband better than he could hear me, but the noise didn't exacerbate the ringing in my ears. My next test was my screaming, teething toddler. He was having quite a terrible day and screaming directly in my ear for part of it. The earplugs enabled me to hear him easily (imagine that!) but not be bothered by the screaming. I'm pretty much sold.Customer Review: Essential bar hopping hearing protection

The ER-20s come in two sizes: normal (blue) and large (white). I was using the white ones, but found that the blues fit my ears better. The ER-20s are the only ear protection that allows me to hear what people are saying without being blasted by background "thump thump" bar music. They are easy to wear, easy to clean, and unobtrusive with their their clear plastic stems. No, they don't truly attenuate all frequencies by equal DBs, but they are so superior to cheap foam plugs in that regard there's no comparison whatsoever. I purchased this product in an attempt to make a theme park visit more pleasurable for my 9-year-old son, who has autism. Overly-noisy environments can by distracting or annoying, so my wife an I have been looking for a good solution to help reduce the noise in an unobtrusive way.
He found the earplugs comfortable and they stayed snug in his ear on the many moving attractions he experienced. We were actually able to experience the park for a much longer time than usual, thanks in part to these earphones.

My ear canals are very different in diameter. I'm using the small/Baby Blue in my left ear and the regular size in my right ear. I had to buy a pair of each, but I'm glad to (now) have two pair that are closer to a custom fit. When I used the regular sized ER-20 in both ears, I noticed the imbalance of having more (too much?) noise reduction on the left. Now that I've been able to fine tune the fit, the noise reduction seems well-balanced and I can comfortably wear these gems.Customer Review: A great deal

I bought these for use in the gamelan ensemble at college, and they work really well! They are comfortable and I can still hear what is going on (even my professor talking), but they eliminate the ringing in my ears that would occur otherwise because of the noise. Highly recommended! These are a great bargain when you consider that other custom "musicians' earplugs" tend to be in the $100-$200 price range!
