Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Etymotic Research ER20 High-Fidelity Earplugs (Baby Blue with Clear Stem)

Customer Review: Great value, big improvement over plugs
Summary: 5 Stars

In comparison to your standard rubber ear plugs, these come out far far ahead. They are much more comfortable and cut the decibels much more evenly (normal plugs tend to cut off higher frequencies much more than the lower ones, giving you a high bass sound). They look a little ridiculous but then I go to concerts to listen to music, not to look cool. I've also used them successfully at a Formula 1 race, where your eardrums would be shredded after a few laps without good noise isolation. At this low price, without any battery pack usually required for noise cancellation, you can't really go wrong. They come with a nice compact waterproof case, which is very useful in keeping these little things clean and dry.

Customer Review: Better than I expected!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these ear plugs to wear to concerts because I was tired of the muffled/ringing sounds afterwards. I was a little skeptical about how well they would work but I wore them last night to the MUSE concert in Nashville (their shows are by far the loudest I've been to yet!). I walked out of there with no muffled hearing, no ringing, and no discomfort at all! These things REALLY WORK! With these ear plugs in during the show, I could hear every part of the concert, the sound guys in the booth talking, my friends, even other audience members yelling at each other. It's like the volume is turned down without losing the sound. If you go to a lot of concerts, get these, they're worth it.

Customer Review: Mid level Sound Tec finds rest between set with affordable ear protection
Summary: 5 Stars

This product gave my ears the needed rest between two or three 30 minute sets at my local church. I have met many Sound Tecs, drummers and musicians who have lost part of their upper range of hearing. With age this is also the first to go. I wanted to protect that part of my hearing, for as long as possible, and this was an affordable solution. At our church, we redesigned the sound system and one of the fill speakers, pours way too much sound for my taste into the sound booth. All the fill speakers are on one channel to keep the room balanced and it was cost effective. With these plugs, I could still here the action in the building, the cues or lead-ins, but at a much softer level.

Customer Review: Great for loud performances where you want to save your ears!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have sensitive ears and so I dread being anywhere loud for more than a few minutes as I feel a bit deaf afterwards. Foam-type earplugs are best at deafening out general noise, but they attenuate the high frequencies too much for listening to music. Thus, these are the best thing to have if you cannot avoid being seated right next to some very loud speakers. They are very easy to insert and are easily carried and stowed in the mini plastic case (opens like a snap-purse). This size is good for those with narrow ear canals like mine. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy the music but want to save your hearing.

Customer Review: Downsized from Regular Etys
Summary: 5 Stars

I have irritable ears and the regular sized Etys were oftentimes bothersome. These baby blues make everything a lot clearer than the regular sized ones did, and my ears don't ring after I leave the party! I also use them when driving with the windows down because it takes away the background noise of wind blowing and keeps the car music clear.

My only recommendation is that you put them in before you go into the music. It keeps you from having a comparison to what the sound actually is like, and then your mind has no complaints about what the earplugs are blocking.
