Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Etón FR500 Solarlink (Black)Customer Review: Not worth it Summary: 1 Stars
This is an intriguing idea for a product, but it's just a terribly produced product. The radio gets almost no reception (and is a pain to turn on). The solar panel doesn't seem to charge up the battery very much at all. The knobs are very flimsy and are hard to keep where you want them. The dynamo charger produces so little electricity that it's odd they even bothered with it. About the only thing it might be good for is charging your cell phone battery, but it's been 6 months since I sent in my request to have one shipped to me and I haven't heard anything from them--not even a confirmation that they received my registration.
Do not even bother with this product.
Customer Review: Product did not satisy my requirements Summary: 1 Stars
The area I live in may have influenced the AM and FM signals for the radio stations I am accustomed to listen to on my car radioEtón FR500 Solarlink (Black). Too much static!! Also the solar power did not seem to work or accept a charge. Finally, I found the instruction manual difficult to follow and pictures of controls too small. If I could not use the features under normal conditions I did not feel that they could be of help to me under bad weather conditions.
Customer Review: not worth having Summary: 1 Stars
Cheap plastic switches and dials which do not click into place and stay there. I have already sent it back to the manufacturer for service and it was returned "functions properly as is" which is not very well. Weather bands do not come in, even though my old radio shack 3"x4" "transistor radio type (for you old folks)gets 2 radio bands clear as crystal. Not recommended!
Customer Review: DON'T BUY Summary: 1 Stars
VERRRRYYYY DISAPPOINTING. 1) S/W BAND- Only station not static filled was from Cuba. 2) AM RECEPTION - Does not pick up distant stations very well. The FR150 gives you 10 times clearer reception. 3) CRANK POWER - Have to crank 120 times to get some juice. 4) SOLAR POWER - Needs 10-12 hours in the sun to work. NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE.
Customer Review: Eton radio a piece of junk Summary: 1 Stars
The tuning for this thing is impossible; the tuning knob feels like something on a child's toy. And the much touted charging by solar or crank is way overblown. Crank charging according to specs gives less than a minute of play time before you have to crank it up again. Don't buy this thing. It's useless.
