GREAT RADIO. LITHIUM BATTERY ALOT BETTER THAN STRAIGHT CRANK AS WITH OTHER MODLES. WE TAKE RADIO CAMPING, GREAT RECEPTION NO PROBLEMS. PHONE CHARGER NOT REALY INTENDED TO CHARGE PHONE, AT LEAST NOT PRACTICAL WAY. YOU COULD BE CRANKING FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND NOT GET MUCH CHARGE. THAT IS THE ONLY DOWNSIDE TO RADIO. My husband wore out my old crank radio (cheap) and wanted the same type in a new purchase. After viewing several makes, we decided on the Eton metallic red color. A good piece of gear that I gave 4/5 stars because it does not come with a DC adaptor. That should be an integral part of the radio system.
The reason I'm writing this is to advise getting the adaptor from the Eton Website. Don't pay the crazy price other sources ask.

We live in Florida and I bought these for my family members in case we were out of power. We know the value of getting information immediately and these radio's give us that. Fortunately, we haven't had to use the emergency features on them this year, but that's a good thing.
