There are already some great reviews here, so I will keep this relatively short.
Bottom line: The radio works well and does what it says it does. This being the case, I'm giving it 5 stars.
I have read and appreciate some of the more negative reviews. Some of the points made are valid while others are misinformed as some commentators have noted.
For me, all I can say is that the day after I received the radio from Amazon, our power went out for the first time in four years. Now, living in southern California, this is not what I would consider an emergency. However, the power was out for a few hours, it was late in the evening, eery, and boring. After setting up my emergency lighting, I basically got to sit around until I remembered I had this radio. I say THIS radio because, I have others, but I never use them because where I live, in the midst of canyons and hills, I have yet to find a radio that got any channels worth listening to.
Anyways, I turned it on and tuned it in and, to my surprise, I was getting virtually every channel that I listen to in my car, on this radio. That was exciting for me, not least because now I can listen to my Angel's game on the radio in the house. : )
Suffice it to say that I was pleased. As for the other features, here is my two cents.
The light works fine, but you should have other lights in your kit anyways. the strobe is probably useless, but you should have another strobe in your kit anyway. The siren may never be needed, but it works and could come in handy (not worth marking the radio down for). The alert feature combined with the weather stations is nice if you live in certain areas. The crank feature works well and does what it claims. Still, if you are stocking up on emergency supplies, stock up on batteries too. It only makes sense.
As I mentioned, the stations came in better than any other radio I have used where I live. The was truly surprising.

A good scout is always prepared! You will be prepared with this handy radio. You will no longer be dependent on batteries! When you crank the dynamo for about 90 seconds you have an hours worth of electricity. You can recharge a cell phone, listen to AM or FM or even tune into the weather channel. There is a bright light and even a red flashing signal light. There is even an alarm. This is perfect for the survivalist! Everyone should own an Eton emergency crank radio. It will run off an adapter, off batteries or by hand crank. Whether you live on the East coast (hurricanes), in the Midwest (thunderstorms & tornadoes), or on the West coast (earthquakes), you can never tell when an emergency will require the use of a radio. Even if you only have to use it once, it will more than pay for itself. It is also great out on a boat. I have used it a few times just to experiment with it's capabilities, and am very pleased.Customer Review: Another Great Eton Product

i bought the eton fr 300 to keep on standby in case of power outages. i have used this model quite a bit since i received it to test the reliability. it has a nice large speaker with excellent sound. the radio and weather stations all work well, the tuner is on the money. the light works good but would be better if it had a couple more led bulbs. the brightness is good but could be a little brighter. the crank feels sturdy. overall, this is a great radio that i would trust in case of an emergency.Customer Review: Safety First

We are a VPP Star site, the highest award OSHA gives a plant for safety, so safety is important to us in everything we do and purchase. We researched several weather radios, and bought the Eton FR300 for our business and for numerous employees personal use. Through several terrible storms and a tornado this past month in NE Iowa, the radios and the various options it has exceeded everything we were looking for. I plan to by more for every member of my family!
