Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of ETON Satellite 750 AM/FM Band Radio (Black)Customer Review: Very Pleased Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted to preface this review by explaining that I am relatively new to the world of shortwave listening. My experiences are based on my other radios, a Kaito 1102, a Grundig S350DL and a Grundig FR200.
With that being said, I waited over a year to purchase this radio, mainly due to the poor reviews. After "reading between the lines" on a lot of these reviews, I decided to take the plunge and order one.
Many details have been mentioned such as the knobs pulling off easily, the weak feel of the battery compartment, and problems with the rotating ferrite antenna. I am extremely careful with my radios, I after "playing" with the 750, I don't see these as issues. I found the radio to be very nice to look at and extremly well built with a solid feel. The tuning knob is smooth and the other buttons and knobs have a nice tight feel to them.
I live on the eastern shore of Maryland right on the coast in a relatively rural area. So that being said, I have been able to recieve clear signals from all of the various bands including the air band. I recieve amature radio as well and have had no problem with SSB or the BFO control.
I will mention that the constant beeps have caused my wife to evict me from the bedroom, but I have not found any other faults with this radio. If you are an amature Shortwave listener like myself, I would be surprised if you are not as pleased with this radio as I am. And with the reduced price, I paid $232.13 with free shipping, it is an excellent deal.
Customer Review: Darn nice receiver Summary: 5 Stars
I am very pleased with this receiver. I have owned several HF receivers, including a couple of boatanchors. The boatanchors may have been better if they had been reconditioned, but they weren't. I would rate this receiver as good as or better than any I've owned. I can't understand why some are knocking the BFO. For this price of a receiver, it is very adequate. Not the best I've ever heard. However, it would be unfair to compare it with the Collins R390 I used in the Navy. It is OK indoors with an external antenna. The whip works, but that is about all. However, with an outside antenna, this thing rocks. More than enough sw stations and amateurs to keep one busy all night!
Customer Review: Great Receiver Summary: 5 Stars
Grundig Satellite 750 AM/FM-Stereo/Shortwave/Aircraft Band Radio with SSB (Single Side Band), Black Glad I purchased it. When I first got this rig I hooked up 60Ft of speaker wire to external ant. Poor results' When I purchased 120 Ft of solid wire and hooked it up this reciever came alive. Real hot receive. Ilm a ham radio operator AA2SM and all that I can suggest to those who gave this a poor rating is read the manual and use the BFO correctly. I have it next to my bed and really enjoy listening to the world and CW at night. Real Real nice rig. Worth every penny
Customer Review: Grundig 750 radio Summary: 5 Stars
I can't believe some of the reviews I'v read on this radio. I've been a ham radio operator for 33 years. I'm no expert but I know a little about radios. I would give this radio ten stars if I could. First , a radio is just as good as the antenna. The built in antenna does what it's suppose to. If you really want to get the best out of this radio connect a out side antenna. I connected my 75 meter antenna & the hams from all over was blasting in. The reception was just as good as on my Yaesu 897 & my Icom 7000.
So, if you want a fine short wave radio, this is the one.
Last, but not least. Amazon is the place to buy. Excellent service.
Customer Review: grundig 750 Summary: 5 Stars
I don't understand the less than good reviews for this radio. I got mine from Amozon at a great sale price. The radio works just great. I have owned many many sw radios in my life and this is right up at the top. I have been listening to everything. AM, FM, SW BOTH AM AND SSB AND C/W.
Have not tried it with and outside ant but I will as soon as weather warms up.
I find the filtering is ok as we must remember that the short wave band is crowded with many close together stations, NO radio will seperate all of them compleatly. This radio works just fine.
