Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Escort Passport 9500ix Radar/Laser Detector (Black)

Customer Review: Passport Good Investment
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the first time I've had a radar detector. Everything reported in the sales literature appears true. No mention of the subscription if you want to maintain your redlight database, but it comes with a 3 month update which should give you plenty of time to evaluate your needs. I've used it for over a month and have discovered some redlight cameras I didn't know were there. I don't have a CDL so for my purposes this product works out great. I also like the portability this provides from one car to the next. It's easy to operate and support has been good. I didn't know some detectors cost this much, but you do get what you pay for and some of the cheaper models didn't have as much to offer. I'm not on the highway a lot, but the redlight database comes into play in my local travels. I don't know if it's the best, but, if not, it sure is close.

Customer Review: Best overall detector!
Summary: 5 Stars

Initially, I was considering the V1, but when I found out about how often it gives you false alarms, I decided to get the 9500ix instead. The beauty of this detector is the TrueLock feature, which removes false alarms and prevents me from being desensitized, because I only get alarms when it matters. Sure, the learning period is annoying, but even without truelock, it is remarkably quiet. Apparently, the digital signal processing rejects most false signals. I have not had a chance to test the redlight and speedcam detection, but I would not rely too much on it, because even though it uses the DEFENDER database, which is the best, there are still probably locations that it does not know about. A word of caution: DO NOT buy from bestseller21. He is on the Unauthorized reseller list, which means the warranty maybe void if you buy from him.

Customer Review: The Escort 9500ix is amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Escort 9500ix is amazing! Quietest detector I've ever driven! I've had other top detectors over the years and my biggest complaint has been annoying false alerts all the time.

But the 9500ix (using GPS) remembers all the false alerts on my route to work and automatically blocks them out. I can also lock out the local bank or 7-eleven that made my old detector beep. When the unit goes off, it's ACTUALLY a patrol car shooting radar.

The 9500ix comes with an awesome power cord that puts the mute and volume controls right on the plug in my console. And I love the bright blue display! You'll have to logon to the Escort web site to register and download GPS updates for red light cameras, but no big deal. Again, extremely quiet and high quality construction. Looks great, too!

Customer Review: Escort vs Valentine
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow, this thing is great in town. It tells me in advance where all the red light cameras are, including the ones we wait in que to get on the freeway. If you have an Escort, and it is so sensitive I just let it sit on the console, it marvelous and great.

But when you go on a long trip, bring the Valentine. Its long range detection is unsurpassed. One time one guy stayed on my blind spot for 15 minutes while I was doing from 170mph down to a gentle 65..., I havd the Valentine, he had to give up.

Conclusion is I wish you have enough money to own both. (Two tickets $271 each now in CA) and two points, I would skim on my meals so that I can have both detectors.

I did not say one is better than the other, they are just different.

Good Luck.

Customer Review: radar detector
Summary: 5 Stars

have had radar detectors since the 1970's. just updated to a escort 9500ix after researching them for over a year. i always research and look around for a product for up to a year or so before i buy no matter what the product, it makes for a better price (esp. electronics) and understanding of each product i buy. best buy for my buck. in my opinion this detector far out performs any on the market at present time. do not take my opinion try one for 30 days and see for yourself. the worse that can happen is you get a free detector for 30 days and you return it. no harm, no foul. good luck with all your choices in life. also forgot to add that i purchased it for $399.99 with the large suction cup holder and smart cord included in price shipped for free. now thats a deal!!
