I was originally looking for just a 7" DVD player but when I saw the Envizen Digital ED8850A Duo Box Pro 7-inch Handheld Digital TV/DVD Player with Built-in Tuner, Carrying Case and Car Adapter...I was totally intrigued. I have been quite frustrated since the digi-switch thing because I live in Florida, and we are subject to hurricanes (and power outages) on a pretty regular basis. When one is in a storm..or being threatened by one...it's good to have access to the news and weather! Before the digi-switch I could use my old circa '80's battery powered Watchman. But no more...it's been reduced to the status of an expensive paperweight. Well, I saw this product here on Amazon and was blown away by the reasonable price. I could not only get my coveted mini-DVD player, but a battery capable HDTV tuner, and a car adapter too! Plus an MP3 player, with smart card, usb, even a way to connect to games. Shipping was fast...and my sweet toy arrived in perfect condition. Everything works fine...yes, the DVD player, too (including blank burned DVDs as well as "store bought" ones). The antenna isn't the world's strongest, although really not bad at all. By hooking the set to a bigger antenna (using the included adapter) I was able to scan in 20 of the 23 digital stations here. And that's no small feat, because in my location it's pretty hard to get in the digital signals. Of the 3 stations I could _not_ get, only 1(NBC) was a "big deal". The other two I never watch, anyway. I have ordered another, small, high powered antenna (about the size of Reader's Digest) to boost my reception as needed, and at that size, the unit is still very portable. The picture is terrific! So crisp and vivid! Sound is fine..volume good, quality better with headphones, but acceptable from the unit itself. I am VERY pleased...even thrilled....with this little gem. Far more than I expected for the price! Oh..and I did buy the additional external battery, as back up, in the event power is down for a prolonged time. Between the internal battery, the backup battery and the car charger, I think we're set for the storm season!
